Carol Muir MA - BABCP
Feeling anxious, panicky, out of control, not able to tolerate uncertainty at the moment?
I can help.
Right now having a varied tool box of skills and techniques to manage anxiety is helping people to cope with the current crisis we are all facing. If you need to learn or develop skills in anxiety management I can help you quickly and effectively using a variety of proven skills learned from over 25 years of experience. Currently short term coping strategies are most beneficial to cope with the current anxiety around Coronavirus. I can help with this by telephone, or Zoom. These strategies will enable you to cope with any anxiety situation in the future.
I have trained in a number of key therapies and combine them with counselling, cognitive behaviour therapy, EMDR trauma therapy and hypnosis to help with stress, generalised anxiety disorder, panic attacks, OCD and PTSD and addictions. I am a qualified Yoga teacher and use relaxation techniques, breathing and grounding techniques and a mindfulness approach to compliment talking therapy. I currently work in private practice as well as within the NHS as a qualified and accredited psychotherapist.
I offer a calm, caring and genuine listening ear, where I seek to understand and not judge. What I offer is not only a listening ear but evidence based proven techniques to help you cope now.
Working as a mental health professional and as a Yoga teacher for many years has brought me a great deal of experience of how the body holds emotions in the form of pain and tension which at times of too much stress and anxiety can lead to panic attacks. My vast and varied experience in various therapies will help you to find ways to cope with stress, addictions, anxiety and many other complex issues and to support you back to a place where you feel balanced once more and better able to take things in your stride as you did before, despite the current situation.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
