Carol-Anne Cowie MBACP (Reg), MBPsS, PG Dip, MSc, BA (HONS)
About me
As a qualified Person Centred therapist I offer a safe, non-judgmental, and confidential environment in which I work alongside clients to enable them to find their own path forward. I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), and I am also a member of the British Psychological Society (MBPsS), Counselling Division; I am committed to working within their ethical frameworks. I endeavour to always work to the highest ethical standards and I undertake regular supervision and CPD to ensure my knowledge and skills are current and relevant to my clients needs.
Skills and Qualifications
I attained a BA (HONS) in Applied Social Sciences (Psychology) with First Class Honours, researching attitudes to self harm for my dissertation. My interest in psychology led me to a Masters degree in Psychological Studies, and subsequently to a PG Dip in Person Centred Counselling which I passed with Distinction. I have a love of learning and personal development, and as a Counsellor and Psychotherapist I bring these passions, along with my knowledge and skills, to my client work.
I offer short and long term therapy, the duration of therapy is entirely up to the client. Sessions are 50 minutes long, and usually once a week at the beginning of therapy. Therapy rates start from £50 per session, please call or email me to discuss further.
Clients
I aim to provide a welcoming, non-discriminatory therapeutic environment; I appreciate that every client is a unique individual and I endeavour at all times to be sensitive to, and respectful of, the sex, race, ethnicity, physical and intellectual characteristics of my clients. I am an LGBTQI+ ally, and I am experienced in working with gender, sex and relationship diverse clients (GSRD).

Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership

Accredited Register Scheme
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
