About me

Hi, I’m Carmela, a qualified therapeutic counsellor, offering one to one talking therapy - face to face as well as online.

It can be a great relief to be able to share your worries and stress with someone who isn’t your friend or family member and can therefore listen and understand without expectations or judgement.

You might feel stuck with painful and difficult feelings, find yourself repeating destructive patterns or have recently experienced a loss or emotions that you do not understand... I won’t be able to “fix” your situation or tell you what to do but I can give you a confidential space and support you, as you explore your feelings and circumstances. I am a strong believer in the power of the counselling relationship. It might take a little bit of time but once that connection and trust is built and you feel you can be completely yourself and talk openly about whatever is on your mind, I hope you will start to understand yourself better,  feel in control, see things more clearly and feel more confident to make the changes you want to in your life and your relationships.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am particularly passionate about working with young people, finding their place in the world and having to master new roles, whether that is at work, as a student, within your family, in relationships or becoming a parent.

Taking that first step can feel scary but I welcome you to get in touch with me and we can arrange a first session at a reduced rate of £20 where we can talk about what brings you to therapy and try and work out if I am the right person for you.

Member organisations

BACP

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
