About me

Many thanks for taking the time to visit my page. A bit about myself  - I am a fully qualified and experienced counsellor,  psychotherapist, hypnotherapist and supervisor here in Coventry. I have been counselling for 13 years face-to-face and online for three years.

I have worked in different professions and held roles in a number of areas - ranging from adult education, supervision, lecturing and psychotherapy. I have worked for organisations such as the Priory and the NHS. My roles in education include Specialist Mental Health Mentor, Senior Lecturer for Counselling at BAES, Course Leader for a Counselling degree and Course Director.  I have co-written a counselling degree for a local University.

The counselling models I use are Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Person-centred, Gestalt, and Transactional Analysis (TA).  For hypnotherapy, I also integrate mindfulness, strengths-based therapy, Positive Psychology and the principles of savouring (enjoying and maximising the moment).  I can create a tailored package that includes a variety of approaches such as career coaching, personality assessments, nutrition guidance, counselling, hypnotherapy etc..

Training, qualifications & experience

I am qualified to Masters degree level in Counselling which I obtained at Keele University.

I also have 3 diplomas in counselling and a certificate in Counselling Supervision.  In addition to this I have undertaken various additional training courses in order to expand and develop my knowledge base and undertake regular and frequent CPD.

My experience to date has enabled me to work with a vast range of issues. I also have a particular expertise in working with relationship issues, anger, bullying, sexuality, LGBT, self-esteem, self-confidence, bad habits, depression (and generally feeling low), identity and anxiety issues, sleeping problems, improving communication skills as well as survivors of sexual abuse.

I have recently passed my Level 4 in Nutrition, and MBTI practitioner, so I can integrate these into my counselling practice.  I have also completed a certificate in counselling children and young people.

Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

Wheelchair user access

Wheelchair-accessible premises should have step-free access for wheelchair users and individuals who are unable to climb stairs. If a counsellor's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.

You can contact the counsellor to discuss the options available.

Under the Equality Act 2010 service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that individuals with disabilities can access their service. You can read more about reasonable adjustments to help you to access services on the CAB website.
