About me

I am an online psychotherapist and supervisor who offers video calls sessions and telephone sessions UK wide.

I am passionate about supporting vulnerable people and helping them to talk about, understand and make sense of their problems

I have 20 years counselling experience working in secondary schools, colleges, universities, substance misuse services, EAP services, autism services working with problems such as anxiety, depression, family related problems, grief, low mood, loneliness, self-esteem issues, sexuality and gender related issues, neurodivergent related problems, OCD .  Specific passion, knowledge and experience in working with men and breaking the stigma of boy's/men don't talk.  Boys and men have a lot they want to say and this is a safe space to say it.

Our work will focus on coping strategies which can help you move forward in your life.

I work online or by telephone which has many benefits for most clients including not having to leave work early to get to a session, no traffic problems, no parking charges etc.  Accessing our session will be easy as I will send you a link on the morning of the session that once clicked on will bring you into the session.  This also means I am also available to work with international clients if you are looking for an online therapist.

On entering into our counselling relationship we will be working in a confidential, safe, friendly and non-judgemental supportive environment going at your pace. I believe this will help you during the sometimes difficult process of speaking to someone new.  Together we will look at what has brought you to counselling, what your struggles are in life and work towards how you would like your life to be. We will do this by supporting you to speak about your problems, understanding your behaviours, creating a desired life path and setting some realistic goals for you to work towards which will improve the quality of your life.

I work as an integrative counsellor which means I will use different theoretical approaches in our sessions which will include person-centred, CBT, TA and solution-focused therapy. My main theoretical orientation is humanistic and I am heavily influenced by Carl Rogers and his three core conditions of empathy, unconditional positive regard and congruence.

I have flexible working hours and work weekends and evenings upon request

I work remotely only via zoom, microsoft teams and telephone.

I adhere to the strict professional code of conduct and ethics of the BACP.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Further information

After you make an enquiry I will arrange with you to have a short consultation on the telephone or zoom/teams etc (whatever suits you best) so we can discuss your problems/needs and I can explain how the counselling sessions will work going forward.  This consultation will give you the opportunity to ask any questions so you can get an idea if this is the service and if I am the therapist who you are looking for.

In counselling we wont talk about anything you do not want to talk about.  we will go at your pace and provide a safe space for you to talk about your current troubles.  Remember we all have problems and the best way to work through them is to talk about them first.  As the sessions progress we will support you to look at your current life and explore the changes, if any, you would like to make and then start working towards making those changes.  You can live a happier and healthier life if you start by getting those thoughts going around your head out into the open.

I will suggest 4 sessions then a review as this will give us both the opportunity to see how the sessions are going and what is the work going forward, if any.  We may decide to end heart, we may continue to work together for many weeks/months afterwards.  This will be decided between us both on a needs basis.

I also offer sessions to trainee therapists and supervision for trainee counsellors as well as supervision for qualified counsellors.
