About us

Hello, I’m Cally (She/Her), a qualified, person centred counsellor based in South Yorkshire.
If you’re looking for a therapeutic counsellor to support you as you navigate grief, or if you’re feeling ready to process and move forward from a difficult past relationship, it would be a privilege to support you.

I'm a qualified, insured counsellor, a registered member of the BACP and I have an enhanced DBS check.

I enjoy supporting a diverse group of clients across a spectrum of ages, intersecting identities and backgrounds. As a queer, neurodivergent counsellor, I have a passion for supporting the ND and LGBTQIA+ community, because of the nuance within the challenges we can face. My therapy is always delivered in a welcoming, confidential and judgement free space, with a neuro-affirming approach and kindness at its heart.

I offer a free, no obligation, initial video call as an opportunity to meet and explore together whether we might be a good fit. I offer 1 hour long sessions via video call (Zoom), telephone and email. You’re welcome to access short or longer term counselling, with no pressure to commit. We’ll take it step by step, session by session.

I’m passionate about accessibility and inclusivity and will endeavour to provide a therapeutic space that accommodates your needs and helps you to feel as safe and supported as possible.

Things that I can help you with:
I welcome working with an array of different issues, life experiences or problems you may wish to work through, therapeutically together. However, my experience and speciality lies in supporting clients who are:

  • Navigating grief, bereavement and loss (including anticipatory grief, bereavement of a person important to you and pet loss).
  • Hoping to explore, process and move forward, following the end of a difficult or abusive relationship.
  • Processing a new identity, whatever that means to you. For example, this could include a new autism or ADHD diagnosis.
  • Seeking therapeutic support whilst caring for a loved one, for example a family member living with dementia.

My approach to therapeutic counselling:

  • I’ll listen to you, I will believe you and I'll offer you compassion and empathy
  • When you feel ready, I’ll also invite you to explore some gently challenging questions. I’ll encourage opportunities to reflect and reframe.
  • I’ll help you (re-)discover your authentic self, your needs and help you to identify and set boundaries that support you on your forward journey.
  • I’ll support your healing, and help you to identify self care tools that make sense for you.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to email me. I can answer any questions you may have either via email, a phone call or a video call. Whatever works best for you.

Grief and Bereavement
If we work together, to support you through grief or bereavement, my support will be interwoven with the belief that there is no right or wrong way to grieve. The therapy will be led by you and your needs and it could involve the following elements:

  • Creating a plan together to support your wellbeing, day to day, following the loss
  • Supporting you to feel less alone in your grief
  • Gently processing what happened and the experiences surrounding the loss
  • Exploring the importance of your relationship and how grief may impact other important relationships and your identity
  • Exploring different ways of staying connected to your person
  • Exploring and reflecting on different theories and models about grief and bereavement and how they may support your grief journey
  • Navigating and understanding the impacts of the loss, for example with changes to your family relationships, identity and work.

Empowering my clients and supporting them to recognise their worth, advocate for themselves and embrace what makes them the uniquely wonderful person they are is one of the greatest privileges of my role as a counsellor.

Training, qualifications & experience

A little more about me:
I am a lived experience counsellor which means I have personally experienced some of the things that my clients may be experiencing or working through. This can often help clients feel more confident in our work together, knowing that not only do I empathise deeply, but I really do “get it”.

I’m a neurodivergent, queer woman, in my thirties. I’ve experienced the life changing impact of grief. I live with endometriosis. I’ve experienced depression and anxiety. I’ve accessed some incredible, life changing counselling in my own life. I’ve also experienced poor and unhelpful counselling. It’s these experiences that make me feel so passionate about the benefits of accessing professional, person centred therapeutic counselling that is trauma informed and neuro-affirming.

I’m an experienced counsellor and have provided counselling for services including a women’s mental health charity, a higher education college, a carers support charity and a mental health and wellbeing organisation.

I am also an experienced workshop facilitator and have delivered peer bereavement support groups.

I have a degree in Ethics, Philosophy and Religion and I am currently also working for a programme aiming to improve people’s experiences of end of life care, death and grief.

Professionally, I have experienced a wide variety of roles including a clinical role within an NHS hospital, community engagement, health and social care service improvement, and a wildlife rescue NGO.

I’m also a huge animal lover, own way too many house plants and spend too much time endlessly re-watching shows like The Office (US), Schitts Creek & Superstore.

Member organisations *

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
