About me
I offer psychological help to children, young people, whole families, and adults who are struggling with emotional and behavioural difficulties. I am professionally registered with the Association of Child Psychotherapists (ACP) and the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), being qualified as a Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist and, as an adult Counsellor.
Extensive knowledge and experience have been gained over 35 years. I am inclusive, friendly, and able to offer a variety of ways to assist you. I aim to strengthen lives through therapies that have clear outcomes and are effective.
Adults, children, young people and families can be assisted with:
- Abuse
- Adoption support
- Anger and aggression
- Anxiety
- Behavioural difficulties
- Bereavement or a loss
- Depression or low mood
- Distress or feeling unhappy
- Family or relationship difficulties
- Gender identity distress
- LGBTQ+
- Neuro diversity
- Parenting
- School or learning difficulties
- Self esteem
- State of mind assessments
- Trauma
Clear plans of how to help are informed through a robust initial assessment and are individual depending upon your needs. This includes understanding what has happened in the past and what is happening now. An assessment may include questionnaires and finding out from you the best way to offer therapeutic assistance. When I am working with a child or young person, parents and carers are always included in the work.
Therapeutic help is often medium to long term and delivered in modified ways that allows for breaks and a “step in/step out” approach. Changes need to take place and become consolidated.
My work involves seeing individual adults for counselling, working with parents together, seeing a whole family or undertaking psychotherapy with a child or young person on their own. The child or young person may be seen alone, with their parent/carer or as part of a whole family. When working with children, a network of adults may need to be established ensuring everyone feels supported and knows how best to therapeutically assist the child or young person.
Referrals are welcomed from individuals, carers or parents and organisations. Adoption Support Fund work is accepted. All referrals or enquiries will receive a free initial telephone consultation.

Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The ACP is the registering body for NHS trained Child and Adolescent Psychotherapists. ACP members undergo a minimum 6 year training; two years at Masters level then 4 years full-time clinical in the NHS qualifying in a Doctorate Level course. Full members are able to work with neonates, mothers & babies, parents & toddlers, primary school age children & adolescents. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Please contact me by email or phone and we can decide if I can assist you.
What is your appointment cancellation policy?
All cancelled appointments will incur the full fee for any reason if less than 24 hours’ notice is provided.
How can I make sure that you have the credentials, qualifications, and safeguarding checks in place?
My registering professional bodies, the ACP and BACP, can be contacted for verification and confirm registration to practice.
Pease feel free to ask for sight of my last DBS clearance check. I am happy to share all evidence of my qualifications, membership, and indemnity insurance certificate on request.
What is treated confidentially?
In line with Statutory Safeguarding procedures, I have a duty to report any event, concern, or information that I have that causes me to believe a child or adult is at risk of abuse, neglect, criminal and sexual exploitation, county line operations, radicalisation, modern slavery, financial abuse, or self-neglect. Other concerns may not be included within this list and I have the right and duty of care to others to address any matter directly with the appropriate statutory services or in some circumstance, with your GP.
I will always endeavour to discuss my concerns directly with you, if this does not cause harm or create further risk to others, and for you to be aware of my proposed actions.
Where does the therapy or appointments take place?
We can meet in a dedicated comfortable and confidential space in Whitstable. Alternatively, I can undertake work online, although on occasions this may not be possible due to the nature of your needs. When working with families, I can sometimes visit you at your home, although additional costs may be incurred due to travelling time and distance. This is dependent upon where you live.
Supervision
I provide clinical supervision to Psychotherapists, Counsellors, and other professionals. Please feel free to contact me for more information.
