About me

Hello and welcome. Whatever has brought you here today, I imagine you may have many 'what ifs' with you too. You may not feel as if you have any choice, power or direction in life, I can offer a space to explore what this is like for you and discover what it is you are searching for. Together we can walk through your inner world, always at your own pace, and you can get to know yourself a little better in the company of someone who is genuinely dedicated to understanding your issues.

I work pluralistically which means I take time to understand what you would find most useful in our work together, this could be creative work, sharing stories, targeting specific behaviours or processing events. There are infinite possibilities but we will only work with what you are comfortable with. Our time together can be your breathing space.

My working life has been dedicated to understanding and empowering others through my work in the charity sector. I have spent three years volunteering with bereavement charities alongside my counselling studies and I have undertaken extensive continued professional development to enhance my practice

Training, qualifications & experience

I have a Level 5 FdA in Counselling and I am a Registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).

I have spent the past three years working in bereavement; encountering loss and grief in the many ways it can reach us throughout our lives and I am sensitive to the complexities of these issues.

I am connected and comfortable in the LGBTQIA+ community, I can support you through exploration of self, identity and self-esteem. I endeavour to make make my sessions inclusive and accessible, I have extensive experience in working with disability and would be happy to discuss any particular needs in accessing sessions.

I would encourage you to reach out and make contact with me if you are struggling with any of the following and I will help you decide if I am the counsellor for you. Loss, Grief, Bereavement, LGBTQIA+ Issues, Disability and Difference, Identity, Bullying, Self-esteem, Anxiety, Depression, Chronic illness, Overwhelm, Feeling lost.

Alongside this work, I am committed to my continuing professional development as a practitioner. I have undertaken additional training and events in this endeavour, I have listed some of these below.

  • Intersectionality and Social Change
  • Existential Therapy
  • Working creatively with fairy tales
  • Poetry Therapy
  • Complex trauma and Polyvagal Theory
  • Safeguarding Adults

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Wheelchair user access

Wheelchair-accessible premises should have step-free access for wheelchair users and individuals who are unable to climb stairs. If a Counsellor's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.

You can contact the Counsellor to discuss the options available.

Under the Equality Act 2010 service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that individuals with disabilities can access their service. You can read more about reasonable adjustments to help you to access services on the CAB website.

I am committed to providing an inclusive service for my clients. Depending on how you choose to work with me, in person, by telephone, I will try to understand and accommodate any accessibility requirements you have.
