Claire Harrison-Breed - Broad Horizons
About us
Here at Broad Horizons we welcome referrals from professionals, adult self-referrals, parents and carers of children and young people. We offer a range of Psychotherapy, Therapeutic Interventions, Assessments, Clinical Supervision and Trainings all under one roof.
Broad Horizons is the only center in the region specialising in developmental and relational trauma for children and young people. We focus in working with complex issues such as developmental trauma, complex post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), dissociation and adaptive attachments in children and families where the child is looked after in care or in post-adoption. However, this is by no means exclusive and self-referrals for adults or children are very much welcomed. All referrals are reviewed by our Clinical Lead to ensure that the appropriate therapist and skill set is matched to your needs.
We pride ourselves on adopting a holistic family approach to our work with children and young people and are inclusive of multi-agency working and being proactive as part of the team around the child and family to provide the best possible outcomes for children, young people and families.
Claire started Broad Horizons in 2007. As a UKCP and BACP Child and Adult Psychotherapist, Claire specialises in working with trauma and dissociation with children, young people and adults.
Alongside her therapeutic practice she is a Senior Lecturer in Counselling for the University of Northampton.
Claire has over 27 years’ experience working therapeutically in a range of settings, such as a registered Gestalt Psychotherapist, Counsellor, CBT therapist, Play Therapist and Social Worker. Claire lectures, researches and publishes nationally and internationally in the field of trauma and dissociation. Claire also offers consultation and supervision to a range of Adoption and Fostering Agencies in the UK

Member organisations *

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
