About me

Psychotherapeutic Counselling in Chandlers Ford, Eastleigh, Romsey, Hedge End, Winchester, Southampton and anywhere else through video. No-cost initial consultation*.

Hello. Are you feeling a bit overwhelmed, lost, lonely, sad, confused, anxious or depressed?  Maybe you feel stuck in a rut or a relationship you can't seem to get out of or just have a feeling you are carrying things that are unresolved and are holding you back? You might be experiencing social anxiety, low self-esteem or just feel things aren't as they should be.

If you are experiencing difficulties in your life it can be really helpful to talk with a professional counsellor who provides a safe, confidential, entirely non-judgemental space for you to explore your life and relationships with a view to positive change.

I work with adults in areas like anxiety, generalised anxiety disorder, depression, feeling hopeless or stuck, sexuality/gender, sadness, worry, stress, shame, anger, guilt, relationship issues, couples, feeling sad, family issues, panic disorder, phobias, separation and divorce, affairs and betrayals, couples/marriage, abuse, emotional abuse, child related issues, bereavement, loss, eating disorders, childhood suffering, abuse, trauma, low self-esteem, low self confidence, self-harming, poor sleep, searching for meaning and other concerns.

Choosing the right counsellor is important. Research tells us the single most important aspect of successful therapy is the quality of the relationship between therapist and client. To this end I offer a no cost initial conversation so we can explore your needs and for you to be sure you feel comfortable talking with me.

I invite you to talk with me in a relaxed, informal setting. I will help you make better sense of your experiences, unfulfilling behaviours, negative thoughts and confused feelings and emotions. Together we can recognize patterns, discover meanings and explore options.

I am Brian Mitchell BA (Hons) PGCE MBACP a qualified and BACP www.bacp.co.uk registered psychotherapeutic counsellor trained as a psychotherapist. I am an approved therapist for Test Valley Borough Council employees and receive referrals from SIXMHS, a provider of mental health services to business established by former England football captain Tony Adams.

If you would like to contact me to explore working together you can do so on 0750 4272724 or at brianmitchellcounsellingcf@gmail.com

Text and email are monitored regularly and are the best means of contact.

My practice is within easy reach of the M3/M27 and central and south Hampshire.

* Free consultations are usually by phone, video or in person to assess if I can help and to see if we are comfortable working together.  This allows you to speak about your issues with no cost or obligation at this point.

Thank you for reading. I look forward to helping you.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
