About me

 Hey my name is Brendan!

I’m an Integrative therapist, I draw on a variety of theories to provide a personalised approach tailored to unique needs and circumstances. I believe the relationship between us to be the most important element in providing support in times of distress.

Whether you seek therapy for anxiety or depression, or wish to learn about healthy relationship dynamics, or aim to boost self-confidence and body image while reducing social comparisons, I'm here to support you at your pace, we'll work to reduce anxiety, elevate mood, enhance self-esteem, and foster positive, rewarding relationships. Together, we'll make life more manageable and enjoyable.

My job is not to tell you what to do with your life or find solutions to your situation, but I am here to understand your world, walk along with you with your experiences, and grow with you. If you decide to take the first step in your mental well-being journey, I would be happy to join you.

One of the reasons why I chose to become a therapist as I wanted to support others; my dream job growing up was to be a guidance counsellor. I wanted to support young adults to navigate teenhood and to achieve what dreams they had.

The biggest joy I get from client work is watching clients grow, and I do not think there is any better feeling than seeing a person finding themselves in therapy, seeing clients gain confidence, and gain a better understanding of self.   I have not decided on specialism as I’d be limiting myself; being able to work with different groups helps me to grow as a person too.

With more than three years of experience in client support, I have addressed issues related to trauma, anxiety, and sexuality. My work with survivors of abuse has demonstrated the profound impact of counselling, particularly in helping clients process traumatic experiences. In my practice, I created a secure environment for clients to explore their experiences, offering compassion, empathy, and respect. By incorporating creative techniques, I will enable clients to develop a clearer understanding of their world. This approach has proven to be effective in meeting therapeutic needs and facilitating personal growth.

I am committed to providing you with a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental environment for challenging conversations. I believe that counselling works best when there is sufficient trust between the counsellor and client, this is why I offer a free initial call to see how we could work together as your safety is important to me.

My availability Fridays may be limited as I still volunteer my time one a day week as a therapist.

If you feel like you are ready for support or just want to chat about options, I am here for you.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
