My Role as your counsellor is to work with you at your pace in a way that best meets your needs and to help you to move forward with your life.
As an experienced accredited qualified counsellor, I can assist you with a range of issues and difficulties that you maybe experiencing. I work in a safe, caring and non-judgmental environment. Our first meeting will give you the chance to decide whether counselling is right for you. Even after a short period of therapy, clients have reported to me that they have developed a better sense of more awareness and how they feel they are more in control and how they can now make better decisions to live their lives more effectively.
Counselling contract: I will work very closely with you, forming an equal working relationship that will empower you to explore and address the issues that most concern you. I believe the aim of counselling is to bring change and awareness and to allow clients to reflect on their own thinking, feeling and behaviour.
These are some of the issues that I work with: Issues related to work ie bullying, lack of motivation, abuse, bereavement / loss, anger, Identity, culture, anxiety/stress, Spirituality
Relationship issues, Isolation/loneliness, mental health, Self-esteem, Depression and much more.
I work face to face and also on the telephone with individuals and couples, adults and young people. Each session lasts for 50 minutes and the number of sessions can be long or short term. I feel it is important to address each client's needs individually and I am happy to discuss any worries, expectations, or goals for counselling. The first session is a time to discuss the most helpful way of working together and indeed with no obligation to continue. Clients can book further appointments only if you wish to do so.
My vision is to be recognised as a responsible and an ethical counsellor, which acts consistently within my mission and values. To be acknowledged as a counsellor who works within the B.A.C.P Code of ethics in demonstrating integrity, accountability and a culture of continuous support.
My mission is to provide excellent face to face and telephone counselling support to individuals with a wide range of issues in the meaningful transformation of their lives in achieving their goals and aspirations. I will provide this support by empowering individuals to gain a positive attitude and to manage difficult situations more effectively by helping to raise your awareness and build up your self-esteem and your confidence.
I trained in Humanistic Counselling (Person-centred), Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT). After qualifying as a counsellor and clinical supervisor, I then continued my training to become a practitioner in Nero-Linguistics Programming (N.L.P) so that I could add life-coaching to the list of services that I currently offer.
My nursing training took place in 1973. However, in 2002, I decided to move from the nursing profession into the counselling profession. My counselling training took place over the last 15 years and it is still ongoing. I believe it is important to keep knowledge updated. For many years, I have worked within the N.H.S as a nurse and also worked as a counsellor within GP surgeries in Primary Care.
In addition to the above charges, counselling and supervision can be arranged
at a reduced rate for people who are on low income.
I balance my life with piano, music, singing, meditating, walking, dancing and writing, as well as spending time with family and friends.
