About us
We have a large team of experienced counsellors who can work with people facing all kinds of challenges. You may be struggling with anxiety, depression, low mood, loss, bereavement, OCD, addiction, trauma, PTSD or other mental health difficulties.
Talking therapy can provide:
- A safe, non-judgemental space to talk
- The opportunity to process your thoughts, behaviours and feelings
- Strategies to cope during difficult times
- Ways to challenge and manage unhelpful thoughts
- Help to find ways to move forward and achieve your goals
Breathe counsellors can work with individuals, couples, families and young people age 7 plus. Our counsellors are registered with either BACP, UKCP or a similar accrediting body meaning they’ve met the required professional standards to practice.
As well as English many of our qualified counsellors can speak a diverse range of languages including Bengali, German, Greek, Hindi, Norwegian, Polish, Urdu and Welsh.
Breathe is part of Platfform the charity for mental health and social change. All our profits are reinvested into Platfform to support community projects.
Training, qualifications & experience
Our counsellors are qualified, and all are registered with either BACP or UKCP.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Further information
The first step is to complete and return a referral form. From this we will invite you in for an assessment with our Lead Counsellor. At the assessment we’ll talk if counselling is appropriate, the number of recommended sessions and we’ll link you with a counsellor - best suited to your needs.
