About us

bMindful provide high quality therapeutic services for children, young people and their families and carers. We are an independent clinical psychology service with particular experience in working with children and young people who have experienced trauma. We are made up of a team of clinical psychologists, psychotherapists and art psychotherapists, who provide services either from our premises in Cheadle or online. 

Our friendly, warm and highly experienced team offer private assessments and treatment plans for children and young people who are experiencing a wide range of mental health  concerns. We focus on identifying appropriate pathways for children and young people, from formal assessment through to 1:1 therapy and support for families and carers. 

Introduction to the Clinicians

Dr Stuart Hepworth is the Clinical Director and Clinical Psychologist. With over 15 years post qualification experience working with young people with complex mental health presentations, developmental difficulties and adverse childhood experiences. Stuart is passionate about improving the lives of children and adolescents who have experienced trauma and / or social exclusion. Stuart is able to do face to face or online clients. 

Mel Smith is a qualified, BACP registered, Psychotherapist who has worked with both young people and adults.  Mel is qualified to work in an integrative way and  can work with a wide range of mental health problems or just offer a safe space to listen. Mel can accommodate face to face, online or telephone appointments to what works for the clients. 

Danny Cottrell is a qualified, BACP registered, Psychotherapist. Qualified in 2007, holds a First Class Degree in Professional Counselling Studies and is a qualified Counselling Supervisor. Danny has supported many children who have suffered with adverse experiences and have a wide range of needs, from attachment difficulties, trauma, autism, emotional and behavioural challenges. 

Sophie Krieger Redwood is a Forensic Psychologist with the HCPC. Having worked in Her Majestys Prison and Probation Service. Sophie has experience in developing and delivering tailored one to one interventions with clients. Sophie has also trained in HMMPS Healthy Sex Programme, working with individuals who have unhealthy/harmful sexual interests. 

Beth Duckett is a HCPC registered Art Psychotherapist and has been supporting children and young people for many years across the NHS and Private sector. She has extensive experience of undertaking assessments and working with parents and carers to create therapeutic care plans to suit the needs of the young people, families and carers.

The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.

They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.

Registration means that a health professional meets national standards for their professional training, performance and conduct.
