Training, qualifications & experience
Founders and Directors Becci Meagher and Johnny Morton are both fully accredited (BABCP) Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapists, with a combined service of over 35 years in the mental health field.
Becci - High Intensity Psychological Therapies PGDip, Occupational Therapy BSc (Hons), Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) Accredited, BABCP (Full Accreditation), British Association of Occupational Therapists (BAOT).
Becci trained as an Occupational Therapist after gaining an interest in the recovery of individuals following life changing events. Becci's positions as an Occupational Therapist (O.T) within the NHS, led her to experience a variety of settings where she facilitated re-enablement of individuals, encouraging them to regain occupation, using activity as the treatment tool, to assist them to maintain or adapt to changes in their functioning following illness. Becci's special interest in promotion of positive mental health led her to work within various positions as a Senior OT, working with both common psychological problem areas as well as enduring mental ill health, with clients from an adolescent to elderly age range. Becci uses Cognitive Behavioural Therapy as her main treatment of choice when assisting recovery of mental ill health, she is fully accredited with the British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapists which oversees the supervised practice and delivery of CBT. With 15 years of professional experience as a therapist, Becci's passion for promoting recovery remains active. Becci thrives on guiding clients to help themselves minimise distress and work towards recovery.
Johnny - High Intensity Psychological Therapies PGDip, Nursing Studies BSc (Hons), Nursing & Midwifery Council Registered (NMC), BABCP (Full Accreditation).
Johnny has worked in the mental health field for 20 years and initially qualified as a registered mental health nurse (RMN) and worked both in a ward setting for the NHS and then in the local community, where his interest in cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) first developed. Johnny returned to Newcastle University to study high intensity psychological therapies (PGDip) as part of the drive to improve access to psychological therapies (IAPT) and he has been working as a cognitive behavioural psychotherapist since. In addition to providing face to face therapy, Johnny also runs group seminars that focus on both preventative and curative therapeutic approaches. These groups help provide individuals with the CBT skills and techniques they require to return to work from sick leave or function more effectively in their role. Johnny has lectured on graduate and post graduate courses and is fully qualified to supervise CBT therapists. As well as delivering CBT for clients, Johnny is currently the clinical lead for the Northumberland Improving Access to Pscyhological Therapies service and is fully accredited with the British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapists and the Nursing and Midwifery Council.
