About me

I’m an HCPC registered Clinical Psychologist, I work with adults who experience anxiety, low mood or are dealing with traumatic experiences. I specialise in helping people going through a life transition such as: becoming new parents, receiving a life-changing health diagnosis, or career changes. Big life changes can be exciting, and thrilling – or leave us feeling anxious, not good enough, depressed or even ashamed. Life transitions can bring up much from our past and show the cracks in our coping mechanisms. They can throw us off track but also be an opportunity for change.

Does any of this sound familiar? I may be able to help. I work in a trauma-informed way, which means I closely consider how past experiences may have shaped your sense of self and coping skills. Everyone's needs are different, therefore I offer personalised and integrative therapy. I draw from approaches such as CBT, ACT, CFT and EMDR.

Adjusting to new circumstances is hard, especially if you have had difficult early life experiences. During our initial session, we will explore the issues you're experiencing and start making a plan. You can email me to book a free 15-minute introductory call today to see whether I might be a good fit for you. I can’t wait to go on this journey with you!

Training, qualifications & experience

I completed my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the University of East London. Alongside my private work, I work in the NHS in a Perinatal Mental Health Service with people who are pregnant or have recently given birth, as well as in a Neurorehabilitation Service, with people who sustained a brain injury.

What is the difference between a clinical psychologist and other mental health professionals?

What sets clinical psychologists apart, is our extensive training in psychological assessment and intervention, grounded in scientific research. This allows us to work with complex mental health conditions and tailor treatments based on the latest research findings. My aim is to offer a compassionate and professional service, helping you navigate your mental health journey with the highest level of expertise and care.

In comparison, a counsellor typically focuses on providing support and guidance for specific life challenges and emotional issues. Counsellors often have training that ranges from diplomas to master's degrees, and they offer a safe space for individuals to discuss their concerns and develop coping strategies. While their work is incredibly valuable, their scope is usually more limited compared to clinical psychologists.

Therapist is a broader term that can encompass a range of professionals, including clinical psychologists, counsellors, and other mental health practitioners. Therapists may have diverse backgrounds and training levels, and their approaches can vary widely. Some therapists might specialize in specific types of therapy, such as cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, or family therapy.

HCPC
Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)

The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.

They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.

Registration means that a health professional meets national standards for their professional training, performance and conduct.
