Whatever you are struggling with talking to a professional therapist can help you to make sense of what’s troubling you, work out what to focus on to feel better and clarify changes which may help
Finding a therapist who is right for you can feel challenging, add to this the prospect of sharing your thoughts and feelings and it can begin to feel very daunting. Your courage in taking this step will be met with kindness, understanding and acceptance. My approach is one of gentleness, calmness and sensitivity matched with a steadfastness and compassion to help you to work through your difficulties, especially those where you feel stuck.
A little about me
I first became involved with counselling as a psychologist in the 1980’s when I set up and ran a large counselling service. Over the years I have supported people from all walks of life with a wide range of physical, emotional and mental health issues and continued to study, augmenting my qualifications with Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy. I have experience of working with a wide range of issues including anxiety, depression, grief and loss, low self-esteem and relationship difficulties to name just a few. For several years I volunteered with CRUSE gaining more experience of working with grief and loss. I have been a family carer for over 25 years and have supported other carers
Training, qualifications & experience
As an Integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist, I draw on a range of tried and tested approaches based in current researched evidence, including person-centred therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy and attachment theory. I combine these, together with other therapies, to best respond to your needs. I use a collaborative approach, you remain in control of your counselling at all times, you decide what you do and don't want to work on, and I bring a range of knowledge and skills to help you explore and understand what troubles you and decide what you would like to do next as you work towards improved well-being and effective, positive change. The counselling and psychotherapy I offer you is continuously monitored by trained supervisors to ensure that I am providing you with the best therapy I can and that my work meets the exacting standards and ethics of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy.
I work with adults (over 18 years old) but bring training, knowledge and experience of development across our life spans to help us.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
