About me

Hi I'm Bev thank you for taking the time to look at my profile. I am a trauma informed integrative psychotherapist with a wealth of experience in providing support to adults and young people with a range of difficulties and concerns from relationship difficulties to anxiety, low self-esteem and confidence to trauma and PTSD in Warwickshire for just over 20 years. I am Accredited with BACP and have worked in non-for-profit agencies for many years. I am passionate about making a difference and helping people to become the best version of themselves and overcome any difficulties that are preventing them from living their best lives.

I believe the relationship with your therapist is really important and that's why I offer a free initial session in order for you to assess whether I am the right therapist for you. I predominantly work online via Zoom and offer limited face to face sessions.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have been practicing as a qualified Person-Centred Counsellor for the past 20 years. In 2020 I graduated from The Open University with a BSc (Hons) in Psychology. I have recently trained in Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR). EMDR was developed – and is best known – as a therapy for treating trauma or post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). It’s recognised by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) and the World Health Organisation (WHO) as a treatment for PTSD, (BACP 2025).

In addition to EMDR and Talking Therapy I also practice in a way that is informed by the Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP) model. DDP is a way of helping children and young people who have been adopted or fostered or live in kinship care, or residential homes. It can also help children who live with their biological parents if the home and parenting provided is now safe and nurturing, both emotionally and physically, (DDP Network, 2025). DDP sessions with parents/carers and children/young people are held face to face.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
