About me

Life's challenges can feel daunting and overwhelming. Maybe you're doubting your own strength to get through whatever you're going through right now.

As your counsellor, I can help you unravel your thoughts, understand your emotions and make sense of your experiences, both past and present. The person-centred approach underpins my practice, alongside drawing upon different theoretical models and creative techniques to provide a tailored and flexible approach to meet your needs.

I offer a warmth, compassion, empathic curiosity and insightfulness to create a space that fosters a sense of safety and openness. Together, we can establish a relationship built on trust and acceptance where you can openly and freely express your innermost thoughts, feelings, hopes and fears. Our journey together may take us on a deep exploration that can offer a greater insight into who you are, who you want to be and offer some hope that you can get closer to the life you would like.

I offer support with a wide range of issues including but not limited to, grief and loss both bereavement and non-death loss, stress, anxiety, depression, life transitions, menopause and loneliness. My area of expertise is in supporting people experiencing difficulties in their relationships—whether intimate, friendships, familial, or professional. You might be dealing with a toxic relationship, navigating a break-up, or considering leaving a relationship. I have experience working with relational trauma including helping those who are recovering from emotional or narcissistic abuse and family estrangement. Together, we can address the devastation, confusion, grief, and loss that these relationships may cause and promote healing.

I also work with couples/family relationships i.e., mother-daughter, siblings etc. My work with couples draws upon various approaches and techniques, including emotionally focused therapy, attachment, the Gottman method and Discernment therapy. Couples therapy generally adopts a more structured and directive stance to individual work. I can support with communication issues, conflict, intimacy issues, betrayal, affair, disconnect and couples where one party is considering ending the relationship.

Training, qualifications & experience

My experience, both personal and professional has brought me into contact with a diverse range of people and I have been honoured to work alongside people at their most difficult times.

My work experience prior to counselling saw me working for a charity supporting adults who had suffered childhood abuse. I also studied mental health nursing for two years and supported people with chronic and acute mental illness in hospital and community settings. During my counselling training, I worked with people with a life limiting illness and volunteered for a national bereavement charity. I provide counselling services for an EAP and SilverCloud Online CBT supporter alongside my private practice

The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
