About me

People seek counselling for many different reasons. You may be facing a crisis such as a relationship problem, bereavement or you may be feeling anxious and lonely. You could be depressed and not really know why or maybe you are having trouble coping with something that happened in your past. Sometimes it is hard to explain just why you feel the need to talk to someone. Whatever your reasons for seeking counselling, I believe that the majority of issues can be explored and understood to enable positive changes to be made.

I am currently offering low cost supervision to Counsellors whilst I complete my training as a Relational Supervisor - please enquire to discuss.

I run a Private Practice in Tunbridge Wells. There is off-street parking available and the nearest station is a 10-15 minute walk.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am an experienced and fully qualified and accredited counsellor and psychotherapist of The British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), The United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) and I am registered as an independent therapist with the UK Register of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (UKRCP).

I am also a Certified Transactional Analyst specialising in Psychotherapy.  I have a Diploma in Transactional Analysis and a Certificate in Counselling.

I am currently in training as a Relational Supervisor and am offering low cost supervision to Counsellors whilst I complete my training.

All my work is professionally supervised and I adhere to the code of ethics of the Institute of Transactional Analysis and the organisations listed above.

I have worked in private practice since 2001 and worked as a Primary Care Counsellor within the NHS for 3 years.

Member organisations

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

UK Council for Psychotherapy

The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.

As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.

UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Wheelchair user access

Wheelchair-accessible premises should have step-free access for wheelchair users and individuals who are unable to climb stairs. If a counsellor's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.

You can contact the counsellor to discuss the options available.

Under the Equality Act 2010 service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that individuals with disabilities can access their service. You can read more about reasonable adjustments to help you to access services on the CAB website.
