Hello, my name is Beth Murray and I am a Psychosynthesis counsellor, accredited by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I bring warmth and sincerity to counselling sessions, listening attentively and with empathy. I work in Taunton and see clients for short-term solution focussed issues, or long-term discovery where you may want to look deeper for self-understanding and healing. I respond to your needs for the pace, depth, and length of our time together. I offer appointments during the day or evenings, in a comfortable, pleasant room, close to a car park. I work ethically and respectfully within the BACP Ethical Framework.
At this moment you may be looking for someone to support you through a challenging time.
When we feel upset we may try to sort the situation out ourselves. Sometimes we can. Sometimes we need the support and presence of another person to explore and unravel what is going on. It may be that you want to resolve a current difficulty; you may want to understand a deeper issue; you may be aware of an habitual pattern, which recurs and inhibits your courage to change; you may want the space to pay attention to your internal world.
It is my intention to provide a warm, empathic relationship where you feel safe, heard and valued when you are sharing and disclosing what is significant and meaningful for you. Our sessions are confidential.
Each one of us is unique and have different needs and it is for you to decide whether you would like short term or long term counselling, the depth of your exploration, and the pace towards self-awareness which feels right for you. I offer a willingness to support you without judgement.
My background in education introduced me to the importance of the development of self-esteem in each child's learning process and the value of healthy relationships. From there I began to work with groups of parents, completed a Certificate in Emotional Literacy, and later, trained as a therapeutic counsellor at the Psychosynthesis Trust, London. My intent is to guide clients who are exploring their emotions and together to discover the path which is emerging from within.
Psychosynthesis is a holistic therapy, which pays attention to body, mind, feeling and spirit, to bring understanding and healing. It includes all parts of our humanity and seeks to understand our character and the background to the conscious and unconscious choices we have made in our lives. As we gain understanding, we are freer to make wise and compassionate decisions for ourselves and others, and to live more fully.
I bring life experience, a meaningful understanding of my own history, a sense of engagement as a mother and grandmother, and warm attention. Regular supervision enables me to reflect on the issues which arise and how they may impact for the client and for myself.
I have a private practice in Taunton and have worked in a voluntary counselling setting for 9 years.

If we mutually connect with each other and you feel comfortable with me, and I consider I am the right person to support you, we would then arrange our sessions, long term or short term depending on your needs, days and times for appointments.
I aim to find times which appropriately fit your schedule and which include times outside working hours.
The frequency of our sessions would be mutually decided at our initial appointment.
Sessions are for one hour and are £45 per session. Concessions may be possible and depend on circumstances.
