About me

I am a child and family psychodynamic psychotherapist and supervisor (accredited by the British Psychoanalytic Council and Tavistock Society of Psychotherapists member) offering a range of talking and play-based therapies to children, young people and families. This includes offering sessions to individuals as well as parent-child, parent, and family sessions, either face-to-face or online.

Life’s experiences can, at times, become increasingly difficult to manage, creating challenges that impact upon our everyday lives; leaving us feeling stuck or troubled and this can often be communicated in a range of different ways. Such experiences can often create feelings of isolation, loneliness, distress, frustration and conflict within ourselves and in our relationships. This can lead to feelings of anxiety, fear, anger, distress and helplessness, undermining our resilience, reduced sense of belonging, self-esteem, self-worth, confidence and trust in others if left unresolved.

Taking the first step in enquiring and considering therapeutic support for you or a member of your family can feel daunting. For many people, having a safe, impartial, confidential and non-judgmental space in which a range of issues can be explored, away from family and friends, can feel like a helpful source of support. I therefore offer a range of short-term and long-term talking and play-based therapy work to support the needs of my clients.

Psychodynamic Approach

Working Psychodynamically can also be described as an ‘insight orientated’ therapy, which uses a range of approaches to facilitate new insight for the client(s), aiming to empower them to make positive changes in their own lives overtime. It also provides the space and time for clients to process unresolved conflict and trauma that may have been experienced either in their past or present lives.

My work is underpinned by a range of theoretical perspectives and evidence-based research to inform and meet the unique needs of each client and family. This includes drawing upon psychoanalytic and systemic theory, along with combining neuroscience, psychoeducation, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy tools, Solution Focused and Mindfulness approaches, to support the therapeutic process.

Psychodynamic Psychotherapists also place the therapeutic relationship at the centre of the work, believing that the relationship is co-created between the client(s) and therapist and that this is an integral part of a client’s therapeutic process which also requires exploration.

Assessment

Finding the right therapist is incredibly important so that you or your child/family can feel safe enough to explore the areas of difficulty being experienced openly, in a way that feels most helpful to you/them right now. I therefore offer a no-obligation assessment, which allows us time to talk about what brings you or your family to therapy, take a history, understand the family context and explore whether the type of therapy that I can offer feels a helpful source of support to you/them.

By the end of the assessment process we will come together to think about what support may be most helpful to you or your child/family at this time, and I shall offer you my recommendations.

Each assessment session is 50-minutes long costing £50 per session. Assessments generally take one to two sessions based on the needs of the client(s).
