About me

Hello and welcome. I am a positive, friendly, compassionate, experienced counsellor for individual adults.
Whatever your present situation, I can help you improve your state of mind and deal more effectively with your life challenges.

I will help you build resilience and become more flexible, optimistic and realistic.
You will be in safe hands with me. I am a qualified, BACP registered and accredited counsellor, with more than 23 years experience in private practice and in organisational settings, including many years as a counsellor within the NHS.

I also train and supervise other counsellors.

I can work in a short term solution focused way, or longer term, taking an open ended approach, depending on what is required. I have good outcomes.

I adapt my working methods to suit the needs of the clients. However, I find that Mindfulness based Cognitive Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) offer positive techniques and good results for most clients.

I offer a 50 minute assessment initially, followed by regular, weekly, 50 minute appointments if you choose to work with me. If, after the assessment, I think that counselling with me is not the best way forward for you, I will direct you elsewhere in order to best help you.

Please see my website www.chiswickcounselling.com for further details and explanations about types of therapy.

Member organisations

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information

In my personal life I have had a long and happy marriage. I have raised two children, one of whom has autistic spectrum difficulties causing him to have extremely challenging behaviour. This has made family life very stressful at times. As a result, I believe that I can be especially helpful for clients struggling with parenting issues. I no longer provide couples counselling, although I have done in the past. I do, however, feel that I can be very helpful working on relationship issues with individuals as a result of my past experience of couples work.
