About me

Hello, Thank you for opening my profile. I work as a Counsellor and in Personal Development plus offer individuals and organisations Supervision. I also work with Couples and specialise in Post Traumatic Stress Disorders.

I feel that as no two individuals are the same, we come with different historical experiences and issues which makes the therapy individual and unique to your needs therefore I prefer to work in collaboration with you using Carl Rogers' person centred therapy and a pluralistic approach.

With this in mind I use a counselling base of empathy, congruence, genuineness, unconditional positive regard and bringing together my training, qualifications and experience we collaboratively create a therapy to suit your needs and goals. Working in a pluralistic way we begin by understanding the issues that brings you to seek therapy, we identify your goals, agree specific therapeutic tasks to achieve these goals and we collaboratively select and implement appropriate methods that will enable these tasks to be carried out.

I cover three geographical areas - North Somerset, Central Bristol and South Gloucestershire.

If you feel you are going through emotional turmoil and life changing events, counselling offers a non-judgmental way of working whereby listening and challenging are key components to reconstructing a better future. Areas of particular interest are - relationship issues, career counselling, anxiety, depression, work related issues, low self-esteem, low self-confidence, panic attacks, trauma and post traumatic stress disorder.

Counselling gives you the space to be listened to, it is a space where you can explore your feelings, perhaps from early childhood and how that may have impacted on your adult life. It is what you choose and through empathy we work together.

I also facilitate Critical Incident Debriefing in groups and one to one in any organisational setting.

Through Continual Professional Development I have completed Babette Rothschild's training and her practice of Somatic Post Traumatic Stress Disorder enables me to work more in-depth with trauma disorders. If you have experienced trauma and it is developing into a recurring traumatic disorder, I would be happy to work with you.

I have also completed training in relational couples counselling and would be happy to hear from couples who are going through relationship difficulties.

Within my role as a Consultative Supervisor I would be pleased to hear from organisations who wish to maintain the mental well being of their employees and offer one to one, group and facilitate individually designed workshops.

I have another website, so please feel free to have a look: www.counsellingbristoluk.homestead.com

Training, qualifications & experience

I began my training with NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) in 2002 and qualified at Master Level in 2004. NLP centres on how we think (thoughts), the language we use (positive/negative) and the impact it has on our emotions and behaviours. Therefore exploring beliefs, values, how our emotional states are created, how we build our internal world through our experiences and the meaning we give it.

I am also a qualified Life Coach, qualifying in 2004 with distinction, which adds to my work in personal development.

My continual professional development took me to complete a set of Enneagram workshops to explore the 'whole self' and to further my understanding of unconscious motivations in which we operate.

I have a BSc in Psychology (2008) and wishing to work with clients to reach a deeper understanding of their issues.

I completed a post graduate diploma in integrative counselling, therefore, enabling me to work short term and long term with clients.

I have a Post Graduate Diploma in Consultative Supervision and I work with individual therapists and offer group supervision.

I also hold a Certificate in Relational Couples Therapy.

I have worked within the drug and alcohol field, the National Health Service and student counselling at university level along with private practice.

Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
