About me

Profile

If you have a problem, I can help to guide you to a better place.

However you’ve come to decide that counselling or psychotherapy is for you, finding the right therapist is a crucial part of the process.

Why me?

My job fascinates me every single day.

Past clients have commented that while I’m patient and thoughtful, I also challenge them in the areas they need.

This balance is hard to achieve, but it’s one I’ve spent many years perfecting. I know how to get the best out of you without rushing. And I make sure that what we achieve together will last, using a carefully planned and appropriate course of therapy.

I hold the new ‘Certificate of Proficiency’ meaning I am a registered member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (Reg. MBACP).

My background

I joined the Royal Navy after school but suffered an accident and needed to be discharged. I spent a lot of time afterwards learning a great deal about myself, human nature and the nature of why we are the way we are.

And so my vocation was unearthed!

I’ve spent many years refining and developing my skills, achieving a 2:1 Honours degree in psychology in the process. I then went on to work for four years as a Brief Therapist, helping people affected by drug and alcohol misuse and dependency issues.

Following this experience, I successfully completed a diploma in counselling and another in psychotherapy. I also trained and qualified as a practitioner of auricular acupuncture and as a practitioner of hypnotherapy.

My total thirteen years in the industry has led me to work with countless individuals and couples, dealing with a wide range of issues. From anxiety to anger, self-esteem to stress, I’ve gained a vast amount of experience that continuously enriches my capabilities. Every case is so unique and that’s what feeds my passion for my job.

What now?

I currently work in the tranquil surroundings of the Millfields, usually during the day but can I can also arrange early morning or evening sessions if this suits you better. I can visit you at home, if you are unable to attend the office and we can even conduct on-line sessions through Skype or Facetime.

My service is totally flexible so we can organise a course of sessions that suits your needs.

I hope you’re intrigued enough to get in touch and find out more about how I can help you.  You can either call me or, if you prefer, send an email.

I will get back to you as soon as possible, usually within 24 hours.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

As an qualified and experienced supervisor, I recognise that not only is the relationship between the supervisor and supervisee key to the supervisory process, there also needs to be space for the supervisee and the supervisor to explore all aspects of the client work together.
