About me
I am a UKCP Registered Integrative Psychotherapist and Counsellor, working in Hassocks. I work long or short term with adults and specialise in the areas of trauma, abuse, anxiety, depression and loss. My roots are in a Humanistic approach and the therapeutic relationship is key to my work, I draw on theory from Person Centred Therapy, Existential Therapy, Transactional Analysis and MBCT. My approach is compassionate yet active and challenging to bring meaningful change.
I provide a safe, non-judgemental space for clients and together we will explore your personal narrative, make meaning from events and relationships in your life and understand more fully your sense of self and how it is to be you in the world.
It is my role to understand your unique experience, enable an enhanced self-awareness and from there together we can bring about positive change for you. As a trained yoga therapy and meditation teacher I sometimes draw on my knowledge of breath work, meditation and mindfulness in therapeutic work with clients where appropriate.
I also work as a Senior Lecturer at the University of Brighton on the PGDip and MSc training programmes in Counselling and Psychotherapy.

In the past I have worked specifically with bereavement at Cruse and also within a homeless community. I have been working in private practice since 2012 in Sussex and am an affiliate counsellor for the Royal College of Nursing. I work alongside Haywards Heath Counselling Centre in providing a service for local Primary Care Trusts, taking referrals from GP surgeries. I have been training Psychotherapists since 2017 and work as a Senior Lecturer at University of Brighton on the Post Graduate Diploma in Humanistic Therapeutic Counselling, and Masters in Psychotherapy trainings.

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

My fee reflects my expertise and experience. I am a UKCP registered Psychotherapist, which means I trained at Master's level over four years.
I have been working therapeutically with clients since 2010 and have a wide ranging experience working in private practice, taking NHS referrals, and for the Royal College of Nursing. I worked as a Senior Lecturer at Brighton University training Psychotherapists to Master's level between 2018-2023 and now offer clinical supervision to qualified therapists. My Psychotherapy expertise is enhanced by a previous successful career in commercial qualitative research and as a qualified yoga and meditation teacher. In particular my range of experience is applicable to trauma informed working, and I specialise in particular in working with survivors of abuse and abusive relationships. My work is grounded in key philosophical concepts from Existentialism and Phenomenology and Social Constructionism, and I hold a strong belief that change in personal narrative is a possibility for every unique individual.
