About me

I am an experienced psychotherapist and have had a private practice in Guildford in Surrey for over thirteen years.

Life can be extremely tough. We can experience challenging emotions like shame, anxiety, anger, guilt, or depression, which can feel hard to understand and overcome. We can experience difficulties in our relationships with others - at work, in our social lives, or in our families. We may develop psychiatric illnesses such as eating disorders, depressive disorders, or an addiction. Others of us are born with challenges such as Autism, ADHD, or Dyslexia.

We can all suffer to varying degrees. It is a fact of life and part of being human and yet sometimes we get stuck. Engaging in therapy and letting a therapist join you for part of your journey can be a valuable and rewarding experience.

As well as helping people with difficult emotions and life experiences, I also have extensive experience and specialist training to work with Eating Disorders. I work with individuals (aged 16+) I offer CBT-E (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Eating Disorders), CFT (Compassion Focused Therapy), MI (Motivational Interviewing), and psychoeducation. All my Eating Disorder work is evidence-based and therefore meets the NICE guidelines.

Having a child with a life threatening health condition is deeply traumatic, I therefore also work with parents of those with eating disorders to support them whilst their child is in treatment

I also have additional training to work with Autism Spectrum Disorders. I particularly enjoy working with women who either have an ASD diagnosis, or who suspect they may fulfil the necessary criteria. I also enjoy working with adults who have received a late ASD diagnosis and couples where one or both partners are autistic.

I offer specialist trauma therapy using EMDR.

I strongly believe that the quality of the therapeutic relationship that we build together will determine the outcome of your therapy. It is an enormous privilege for me to be invited into someone's life and to watch them grow and change.

I am a Registered and Accredited Member of BACP, and I abide by their Code of Ethics. My work is supervised by a senior practitioner.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
