Barbara Perry - Counselling, Psychotherapy, Supervision, MBACP (Snr Accd)
How I work. My calm and welcoming approach allows you to explore at your own pace what is troubling you in complete confidence. Life can be difficult and I will allow you time to talk about anything and everything. As you won't know me at first, I give a 20 minutes' free session without obligation. I welcome your call at the above number.
How Counselling can help. Many of my clients mention the huge relief when able to talk freely and privately about how they are experiencing their lives, maybe a devastating loss or a traumatic event that keeps them stuck and in pain. You may have a past buried hurt underlying a current day behaviour pattern that is destructive or unmanageable but probably repetitive. I’m able to help you understand your place in your relationships rather than working with blame. I can help you become aware of what everything means to you so that you can manage your life with conscious awareness and more positive choices.
My previous settings. From a background in the corporate sector, I have 25 years of working therapeutically with adults, couples, teaching groups and young people in various settings including private practice, colleges, schools, prison, managing a young person’s counselling agency and behaviour analysis in residential homes for young people. These settings gave me a great deal of learning and research of what I can offer in the present day.
My clients. I provide counselling and psychotherapy in all age groups to adults, couples, young people, groups and organisations. I provide clinical supervision to counsellors and psychotherapists both in training and also those who are qualified. Please see my supervisor profile.
For Qualified professionals and Students. In counselling and psychotherapy, as well as supervision, I work with a humanistic integrative approach, primarily Existential, with Person-Centred and Gestalt. I gained my BACP Senior Accreditation in Supervising Individuals and Groups in 2010 and qualified as a Supervisor in 2009.
What to expect from your first session. Beginning therapy can be difficult and you may have questions and concerns. I offer an initial 20 minutes' free to meet without obligation. I will go over what is the process of therapy, what you might expect over the coming weeks, confidentiality, timescales, payments and contact details.
Online. For the foreseeable future, I will be working online via Zoom, FaceTime, WhatsApp, or Skype until safety permits for face to face sessions.

Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
