My interest is in you as a person, whatever your reason for considering therapy. There are as many reasons as there are people, but therapy is helpful for most of the situations and feelings that we humans might experience.
I have further training and a special interest in problems with pregnancy, childbirth and the early years of parenting. I have enormous compassion for today’s new parents; our current Western society is usually poor match for their natural needs and instincts.
Another area of interest and extra training is in ‘climate psychology’, covering what must surely be some of the most difficult thoughts and feelings that mankind has ever had to deal with. If you struggle to come to terms with the current climate change predictions, please don’t struggle alone.
In the same way, I have further training in the related area of grief counselling so if you’ve had a painful loss, you don’t have to walk that hard path by yourself; there is much to be gained from having someone skilled to walk alongside you for a bit.
However, as I said, it’s you that I care about, whatever brings you to therapy; we explore and travel a totally unique journey of discovery together, with its own magic and shadows but one which always feels a true privilege to me.
Talk and be heard, explore, understand, come to terms with, become more fully yourself.
If all this sounds about right, you probably want to see what I’m like and whether you feel comfortable with me so if you would like a free chat to find out, just email, call or message me, I’ll look forward to hearing from you.
Training, qualifications & experience
Counsellor, LicAc, BAc, Dip Couns, MNCS Accred, UKATA Registered.
My first career was in acupuncture and I have always been fascinated by the ‘mind-body connection’, now a rapidly growing area of neuroscience that explains how our bodies are indeed physically affected by our minds. (Didn’t we just know it?!)
I am an accredited counsellor trained in Transactional Analysis, one of the oldest and most respected schools of psychotherapy. I worked for years as part of an NHS and East Sussex County Council perinatal mental health team, dealing with infertility, pregnancy loss, stillbirth, birth traumas, babies with disabilities, bonding problems, anxiety, pre- and post-natal depression and much more.
I am a member of the Climate Psychology Alliance and volunteer with a support network for people who are active in this sphere.
My experience also includes volunteer work as a bereavement counsellor in the surprisingly-inspiring environment of a hospice.
Other trainings include:
- Many on perinatal mental health and parent-infant therapy
- Suicide prevention
- Sex and relationship
- Dream interpretation
- Attachment styles
