About me

We all experience times in our lives where things just get on top of us, be it for example through bereavement/loss, relationship issues or traumatic experiences. Sometimes the issues are more subtle such as feelings of dissatisfaction with life or a sadness we can't quite shake off.

I provide a safe, empathic and confidential space where distressing issues can be explored together without becoming overwhelming and a new understanding of yourself can be fostered.

Working in both the psychodynamic as well as the CBT (cognitive-behaviour) approach, I offer therapy for individuals on short-term and long-term basis. During an initial session we would establish if and how we can work together, whether working with unconscious dynamics or with a more skills- and solution focused approach.

I can help with issues such as: depression, anxiety, worry, panic, trauma, domestic violence, domestic abuse, physical abuse, sexual abuse, emotional abuse, relationship problems, phobias, addictions, bereavement, loneliness, infertility, dissociation, self-critical thinking, low self-esteem, OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder), stress, divorce and separation, self-harm and suicidal thoughts.

You are welcome to contact me without obligation if you would like any further information about the way I work or simply would like to discuss the possibilities of psychotherapy.

I currently practice from therapy rooms in the Telegraph Hill area and in Brockley (SE14 and SE4).

Training, qualifications & experience

I studied at Birkbeck University for 5 years, where I gained a BSc (Hons) in Psychodynamic Counselling and CBT. My clinical experience stems from working with a diverse client group in various settings, including the IAPT-service at the Maudsley Hospital in SE5 as well as voluntary organisations such as MIND in Southwark/Lambeth, Centre 70 Counselling Service in West-Norwood and Blenheim CDP in Bexley.

As well as working as a private practitioner I currently work for a voluntary organisation specializing in gender-based violence and trauma.

I am a registered member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) and comply fully with their Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
