About me

I am a dedicated psychodynamic psychotherapist with a wealth of experience in supporting individuals from diverse backgrounds. I specialize in addressing a range of emotional and psychological challenges, including anxiety, depression, bereavement, anger, self-esteem issues, self harm and the effects of physical and sexual abuse. My rich multicultural background—being born and raised in India, and having studied and worked in the USA and UK—has endowed me with a unique and comprehensive understanding of various cultural contexts and client experiences.

In addition to my private practice, I have demonstrated a strong commitment to community support through my role as a volunteer facilitator for the "Living with Depression" support group for over two years. This experience has deepened my empathy and refined my ability to provide effective guidance to those navigating depression.

Since September 2023, I have been serving as a wellbeing advisor for Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic (BAME) communities at a charity. In this role, I am dedicated to advocating for mental health and offering specialized support to individuals from these communities, ensuring they receive culturally sensitive and empathetic care.

My diverse experiences, coupled with my unwavering commitment to mental health, enable me to offer insightful, compassionate, and effective psychotherapeutic care to all my clients.

Training, qualifications & experience

I hold an MA in Psychodynamic Counselling and Psychotherapy, which has provided me with a deep understanding of the unconscious processes that influence human behavior and relationships. Additionally, I have earned a Diploma in Integrative Counselling, equipping me with a versatile skill set that allows me to draw from various therapeutic approaches to best meet the needs of each client. I also have a BA in Applied Psychotherapy, giving me a broad and practical understanding of therapeutic principles.

As a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), I am committed to upholding the highest standards of professional conduct and practice. I diligently follow the BACP’s ethical guidelines, ensuring that my work is grounded in integrity, respect, and a deep commitment to the well-being of my clients.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Further information

A cornerstone of my practice is the creation of a safe and nurturing space for clients. I recognize that the therapeutic journey requires trust and vulnerability, and where clients feel secure, respected, and understood. My approach is rooted in empathy, non-judgment, and confidentiality, allowing clients to explore their thoughts and feelings openly without fear of criticism or stigma.

Through a collaborative and client-centered approach, I work with individuals to uncover underlying issues, foster self-awareness, and develop effective coping strategies. My goal is to empower clients to achieve personal growth and emotional well-being, providing them with the tools they need to navigate life's challenges.

By offering a safe and supportive therapeutic environment, I am committed to helping my clients find healing, resilience, and a deeper understanding of themselves.
