About me

Hello, I'm Ashlyn, a warm, compassionate, and approachable counsellor registered with the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I work collaboratively with clients to help them gain insight into their challenges. Using an integrative approach, I blend various therapeutic methods to address each person's unique needs, as I believe that a tailored approach is far more effective than a one-size-fits-all solution.

As your therapist, my role is to provide a safe, non-judgmental space for self-exploration rather than giving direct answers. Here, you’ll have the freedom to express your thoughts and feelings openly and delve into any issues that are troubling you. Together, we’ll work to understand how past experiences may be shaping your present and explore pathways to a more purposeful and fulfilling future.

My background includes working with counselling agencies, such as Lambeth Talking Therapies (supporting NHS clients), as well as in private practice. I have supported clients through a range of issues, including anxiety, low mood, depression, work-related stress, and relationship difficulties. Additionally, I have experience supporting young people with their mental health and emotional well-being through a children’s charity.

I hold a 4-year Diploma in Counselling, along with additional certifications in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). My aim is to support clients in exploring their thoughts and emotions.  I value each client’s uniqueness and believe that the client-counsellor relationship is central to achieving meaningful progress.

I offer a FREE initial 20-minute telephone consultation session to see if we can work together. The consultation call also offer the opportunity to ask any questions about the process.

I work with adults and young people aged 16 and over, offering face-to-face, online, and telephone counselling sessions. I provide both short-term and open-ended counselling, with availability on weekday evenings, Fridays, and weekends. I am based in Barkingside/Ilford/ Buckhurst Hill.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
