About me

Hi, my name is Ashley, I am a counsellor  based within Dudley area of the West Midlands.

do you need some support? ... Its OK not to be OK

Stress, abuse, bullying, anxiety, depression or feeling depressed, illness, disability, problems at home or work, relationship issues, lack of intimacy, affairs, betrayals, bereavement, mental health, personality disorders, feeling as if you can’t cope, addictions, sex, sexuality, gender issues, self-harm, suicidal thoughts, behavioural issues, phobias, break down in relationships, anger management and many more difficulties can all be reasons why someone may seek out counselling.

What can you expect?

It is my aim to provide you with a space that is safe, confidential and free of judgement, so that you are able to take time away from the stresses and pressures of life to freely explore whatever is troubling you.

Talking to someone about the most difficult and intimate parts of your life can feel scary. This is why I initially offer an introductory session. This gives us an opportunity to meet face to face and discuss what it is you hope to gain from counselling and for you to ask any questions you may have. This initial meeting allows you to find out a little more about me and how I work. In turn, I can also share with you a little more of what the process of counselling will involve and how we can move forward should you decide you would like us to continue working together.

Each individual session lasts 50 minutes, typically meeting on a weekly basis although, It is entirely your decision as to how many sessions you wish to have.

How I work

My way of working is a blend of various approaches to counselling meaning that I am able to meet the needs of each and individual client that I work with. I strongly believe that every person’s experience of therapy should, like you, be unique.

In addition to individual therapy sessions am also able to support those experiencing difficulties within their relationships, whether  this is as a couple, partnership, or family members.

Taking the first step to seeking out support is often one of the most difficult, although I strongly believe that given some time and commitment, the process of therapy can be one of the most rewarding too.

If you have any further questions or would like to discuss making an appointment call me on 07547619813 and leave a short message if i am unable to take your call. Please be assured that all communication is treated with the strictest of confidence and i will return your call as soon as I am able.

further information about me and the services I offer are also available to view on my website, if you would like to like to find out more.

Warmly,

Ashley

Training, qualifications & experience

I have experience in supporting clients with a wide range of issues such as trauma, anxiety, depression, dealing with anger, as well as relationship difficulties and working to understand sexuality and identity to name a few.  I have provided a little more information on some of these issues on my website in the hope that you will find this helpful. However, please bear in mind that this is simply a brief snapshot of some of the difficulties I work with.

My professional development is on-going and I attend various training events and workshops to further my knowledge and experience. As a BACP registered practitioner I am gaining professional certificates in addition to my relevant qualifications, which include:

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
