About me
I'm a fully qualified and experienced counsellor working with adults and young people aged 11 and over. At times life feels stressful and challenging. You may feel stuck or that the usual ways of coping are no longer working. Counselling enables you to find a way forward that makes sense to you, by offering support and understanding, new ways of approaching difficulties and by helping you to locate strengths and resources. I will provide a safe, confidential and non-judgmental space to explore any concerns that are preventing you from living a satisfactory and fulfilling life. I'm experienced in working with a variety of problems including: depression and anxiety, stress, anger, bullying, abuse and trauma, eating disorders, bereavement, relationship difficulties, low confidence and self-esteem.
Counselling can also help with decision making, career changes, personal development and growth. In my experience clients want and benefit from different ways of working in therapy. I've trained in several therapeutic approaches the main ones being Person-Centred, Psychodynamic, and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). I've also found Mindfulness and art based therapy techniques to be effective for many clients. I'll draw on my training and experience to work with you and to develop a tailored therapy that is most likely to help you as an individual.
Training, qualifications & experience
Since 2004, I’ve been involved in activities and agencies offering therapeutic support and during this time my belief in the effectiveness of therapy has been strengthened by experience. I've worked with both adults and young people (aged 11 and over) with wide-ranging issues and in a variety of settings including: private and voluntary sector, higher education, secondary schools and youth services. Currently, in addition to my private practice, I'm a senior Counsellor at Rowan Consultancy. Previously, I gained considerable experience working within the voluntary sector for Mindspace, Cruse Bereavement Care Scotland and as a helpline volunteer for Childline Scotland where I also became a mentor and a trainer. In addition, I was a student counsellor at Perth College.

Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership

Accredited Register Scheme
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
