About me

Welcome,

My name is Ashlea and I am a therapeutic counsellor. The way I work is Person-centered and Integrative in my approach. This way, I may be able to support you on your journey and be flexible with our way of working together, that may suit your needs.

Counselling may seem like a daunting process for many, this is completely understandable. I welcome any questions of concerns about the process, so that you are able to feel comfortable about the sessions.

I aim to provide you with the right conditions for you to be able to experience; help, support, growth or simply a person to speak to about what you are going through.

My practice caters for working with a variety of topics/ areas for help. This may include: Anxiety, Depression, Relationships, Identity, Discrimination, Abuse and more.

I work with adults and young adults and I can accept sessions online via Zoom or Teams. Alternatively, there is a location I can work face to face in, in the Herne Bay area, in Kent. I will also be open to telephone sessions if you would prefer to speak this way.

I would be available for a free telephone consultation if you were thinking about starting sessions or had questions to ask.

Enquiries can be sent to me via email.

I have engaged in volunteer counselling and mentoring with organisations from 2020 – 2024. Volunteer counselling for example was carried out in different forms: online, telephone, webchat and in person which was supervised. I have held counselling sessions for mainly young people, managed their referrals, maintained confidentiality and written reports. Mentoring adults I carried out using a framework, and regular weekly sessions.

I have worked as an EAP Helpline Counsellor last year, assessing and supporting adults, usually with workplace concerns.

I have participated in mandatory and further training courses.

  • BSc Psychology (counselling) Degree.
  • Certificate in the Foundations of Counselling and Psychotherapy
  • Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Skills
  • Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling
  • Certificate - Certified Online and Telephone Counsellor
  • BACP Stage 1 curriculum Introduction to Counselling Young People

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
