About me

Often, those in pain may come to counselling in complex mental binds. These challenging emotions may present outwardly as forms of anxiety, depression, low self-esteem and so on. I offer a space where we can explore the pain and challenges you're facing with compassionate curiosity.  We may at times pause to examine what is brought to the space, by thinking about the more abstract and emotional undercurrents, in order to collaboratively come closer to an understanding regarding what your pain is made of. I provide a space free of judgment and shame, and a willingness to walk alongside your emotional world.

I specialise in psychodynamic counselling which draws on an understanding of how past experiences shape present thoughts, emotions and behaviors. I also specialise in LGBTQ+ counselling, working affirmatively to support the unique challenges found in community and identity.

Exploring the complex parts of our own experiences can feel overwhelming, but it's also a powerful step toward understanding and processing. In our work together, we'll take the time to gently uncover the roots of pain, allowing space for insight and compassion. If this sounds like a route you would like to take, please feel free to get in touch.

I have many years experience in mental health sectors. This includes extensive work with the national charity Mind and have experience working with individuals facing complex mental health challenges. I have a background in providing groups with psychoeducational sessions and organizing workshops.

I have extensive experience working with LGBTQ+ individuals, including at the charity Switchboard, as part of a Trans survivors network team.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
