About me

Counselling to me is the provision of a safe and confidential space for you to express and explore your difficulties. I will provide an accepting environment and remain alongside you while you start and continue your counselling journey.

I will not provide you with advice or instructions, I believe that you have the resources within you to make the changes/choices best for you... even if you don't know it! It is my job to work professionally, empathically, honestly and non-judgmentally with you, to help you discover and make sense of your emotions.

My Humanistic approach means that I incorporate models of therapy in an integrative way, based on what each individual client might respond well to. All of my work will be centred around you and we will work collaboratively to ensure this.

"What I am is good enough, if only I would be it openly." (Carl Rogers). Often we struggle to accept ourselves in many ways and contexts. I believe you are enough, and deserve the time and space to explore aspects of yourself within any context that is causing you distress, and to then make helpful choices if necessary.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am extremely passionate about facilitating self awareness. I work from a core belief that, to learn to be in good relationship with yourself, is vital for a confident, safe and fulfilled way of life. Knowing ourselves in relation to our pain, anxieties, traumas, past experiences and difficulties is not easy, but with support can bring positive change.

I am a BACP registered and qualified counsellor. My experience includes working with adults and young people (16+).

I work locally with young people and adults who have been victims of crime.

My experience also includes: working with young people within an educational setting. I have also previously worked at The Spurriergate Centre and Dayspring Counseling Service, working with a wide range of clients.

I have also provided self care/self awareness workshops in an organisational setting.

This work has been combined with my private practice where I work with both adults and young people. I also work within higher educational settings as a Specialist Mental Health Mentor. This work often includes a more solution focussed way of working.

Before qualifying as a counsellor I worked within the NHS, assisting in the provision of physiotherapy to stroke patients.

Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
