About me

Hello, first of all let me thank you for taking the time to read my profile.

I’m a fully qualified and registered B.A.C.P. counsellor, currently offering online sessions. I left a full-time career in the electrical industry to pursue a career in counselling after experiencing what I would now describe as a period of reflection and re-alignment in my own life OR in colloquial terms, what might have been described as - “having a midlife crisis”. I regularly attend to my own dreams as best as I can and I have a deep respect and fascination for this aspect of nature.

Counselling Training

The model of training that I chose to pursue at a core-foundation, was Person-Centred counselling. Person-Centred counselling is a model of counselling that gives clients a confidential and safe space to be listened to (which most models of counselling is based upon), to express their own situation, thoughts and feelings in an environment where they will not be judged.  Person-Centred counselling is based upon a foundation, that if a client is provided with the right therapeutic conditions, then rather than being in a state of stasis, development towards loosening, understanding, self-acceptance/awareness and growth can occur within that therapeutic relationship. This process can also be assisted by helping the client explore possible solutions that will be appropriate for them, which is based around the belief - that the client is the expert in their own life.

In addition to this Person-Centred training, I also chose to develop myself on an educative level with further counselling training and complemented this core training by obtaining a B.A. (Hons) in Counselling Solutions, back in 2018. The understanding that I gained from completing this undergraduate degree, has been integrated to my counselling knowledge and if required can be drawn upon to supplement client development within therapy. (For example, this knowledge draws upon theories such as Psychodynamic theory, C.B.T. and Solution Focused therapy).

To add to this also, my learning and training is still ongoing and I attend regular and appropriate personal development.

What I Offer

As a therapist, I’ll be able to offer you a safe space, where you will be listened to from an empathic viewpoint and encouraged to investigate what’s brought to seek counselling in depth. Of course, this will be conducted at your own pace and it will be ultimately decided by you - on how far you want to investigate something; in line with your tolerance levels. Occasionally though, this might involve me challenging you and trying to get you to see things from a different perspective and also aims at uncovering hidden reasons on why you think/act or do something in particular situations. I also work with clients in experiential ways and I will work as best as I can to adapt to you as an individual, working within my training limit.

As a practitioner, I believe and work to a principle of “Doing what’s right for you - the client”.  To put this into understandable context, my ideal aim, is to help you get back on your own direction/path and share that relational journey and development with you. You might not know what this entails currently, but together we will aim at uncovering and achieving this. As a counsellor (and I really believe this), that it's not only you that's engaging in therapy, but also it will be me too - during the therapeutic hour!

I’m available most weekday evenings, including Thursday and Friday all day. Appointment times can be accommodated around you, which can be agreed between ourselves. Online session appointments are usually conducted in length of up to 60 minutes in duration.

Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
