About me

I am Dr Anu Garg and I am an experienced accredited Psychotherapist, Counsellor, EMDR Europe Accredited Practitioner and Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (CBT), offering online therapy to adults on a one-to-one basis.

I am highly experienced in helping my clients to overcome various challenges in both their personal and professional lives. Together, we focus on prioritising the issues at hand and map out a clear direction and way forward, including how you will cope in the future, beyond our sessions.

Over the years, I have successfully helped my clients to overcome the following issues:

  • Complex PTSD due to adverse childhood circumstance, e.g. witnessing domestic violence at home or mother's postnatal depression.
  • General sadness
  • Anxiety and panic attacks and generalised anxiety disorder.
  • Race and identity issues
  • Perfectionism related anxiety and depression
  • Work stress, burn out and support for whistleblowers
  • Health anxiety - fear of cancer and/or major diseases
  • Health professionals and key workers
  • Nightmares
  • See full list below.

I offer a professional and confidential environment in which you can bring your issues and distress. My experience and training allows me to create a tailored therapeutic approach, unique to each client, based on their challenges and needs. These include:

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
  • Psychotherapy
  • Counselling
  • Solution Focused Therapy
  • Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) methods and techniques
  • Poetry Therapy.

I also teach mindfulness techniques to my clients and provide them with individualised audio recordings to use at home. This enables them to manage their psychological stability, particularly whilst receiving EMDR.

Please get in touch today to find out how I can help you. You can call me on 07369 213920 or click here to email me in the first instance. I am happy to answer any questions you may have, confidentially.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Further information

Besides being a private counsellor/psychotherapist, I am a health-research academic and work for a large university as a staff counsellor/psychotherapist which I enjoy. This may be particularly helpful for the University staff if they are looking for someone to fully understand their context and challenges.

Recently, I have successfully worked through poetic-dialogue with clients experiencing low mood and anxiety due to chronic adverse circumstances. This work enhanced normal counselling, CBT or EMDR work that we did. So if you would like not just the normal therapies but also healing through creativity, I would love the challenge of working with you. Please get in touch.
