About me
Anupama Garg, PhD, PG Dip Counselling & Psychotherapy (MBACP, Accredited)
EMDR Europe Accredited Practitioner
I offer a caring and confidential environment in which you can bring your issues and distress. I shall actively listen to your difficulties, possible trauma histories, and your therapeutic goals. Based on this, I shall help you to construct and work through your individualised therapeutic pathway, drawing on my qualifications and experience in Person-Centred Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Solution Focused Therapy and/or Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) methods and techniques.
My multimodality therapeutic approach has been honed during my 8-year successful experience of providing counselling/psychotherapy to adults on a one-to-one basis. I had worked for 4-year in a primary care setting, and for the last 4-year I have been working as a private counselling consultant for staff in a major British organisation.
To support my EMDR work, I also teach mindfulness techniques to my clients and provide them with individualised audio recordings to use at home. This enables them to manage their psychological stability, particularly whilst receiving EMDR.
I am an accredited member of the British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP) and an EMDR Europe Accredited Practitioner. These accreditations mean that I am considered a safe and competent higher-level counselling/psychotherapy practitioner by the BACP; and I have met the higher-level practitioner criteria of EMDR Europe in my EMDR practice.
Code of ethics statement: I am committed to protecting your privacy and confidentiality which is a part of my commitment to BACP's ethical code of conduct. I shall email you my terms and conditions of working online before starting work with you.

Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

Some of my recent clients' testimonials:
Kali, 4 February 2021: "When I spoke to Anu on my very first appointment, I was somewhat confused by seemingly random panic attacks and anxieties that had developed out of nowhere. Over the course of our sessions, it transpired that many of my current anxieties were as a result of adverse childhood experiences, so where I had previously been offered CBT in the past, it was not entirely suitable for my specific circumstances. Anu made use of EMDR, which is about desensitising and re-processing traumatic memories, which I found to be particularly effective. I had not previously been aware that so many of my day-to-day anxieties were as a result of unprocessed memories, but Anu taught me various techniques to cope, as well as the EMDR, which has led me to feel far less anxious than before. As a result of my sessions with Anu I feel better equipped at identifying my anxieties and pre-empting panic attacks. Thanks Anu!"
Nicky, 18 January 2021: "Gosh, where do I start! I first started working with Anu to address some deep routed confidence issues and through her warm support, extensive knowledge and genuine desire to help I have progressed in leaps and bounds. It has been a roller coaster of emotions at time but along the way I have felt fully supported by Anu and embraced by her enthusiasm for EMDR and trust in the process. As a result, I feel I have gained a deeper understanding of my thought patterns and transformed the way I view myself. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!"
