Antonella Podesta (Reg.MBACP, PGDip.Counselling)
*In response to COVID-19 I am currently offering sessions via telephone or video call, which is fully encrypted and confidential. Walk-and-talk sessions offered for clients in FK1 area.*
My name is Antonella and I am a fully qualified counsellor and psychotherapist working in private practice with adults in Falkirk and Edinburgh. I also offer sessions in English or Spanish and I am a registered member of the BACP.
My aim is to offer clients a safe, nurturing space where distress of any form can be shared and explored together. I work with people experiencing issues such as loss, anxiety and depression, low self-esteem, stress, abuse, trauma, chronic illnesses, perinatal and postnatal mental health, parenting and relationship difficulties.
Within my practice, I like to welcome everyone who needs help and support without judgement regardless of their background, culture, ethnicity, religion, gender or sexuality. As I cherish and respect diversity of any shape or form in every one of my clients.
I offer short and long term therapy to individuals. Counselling sessions are 50 minutes long, either weekly or fortnightly. However, I offer a flexible counselling practice to my clients as I fully understand private sessions aren’t always manageable and welcome any discussion regarding this and ensure I can provide suitable sessions to their needs.
I work daily with people with dementia, mental illness and autism who are experiencing varying levels of distress and difficulty. I have an understanding of end of life care and palliative care, having accompanied individuals and supported their families through these processes as well as through bereavement and grief.
I believe that counselling offers an opportunity to explore and reflect on any aspect of your life within a safe, confidential, and non-judgemental space. I am positive that with therapy, I can help you find the ability to grow and change through talking, and to understand and transform those often difficult, emotional issues. My aim is to offer each one of my clients empathetic, safe and confidential support and care suited to the individual.
I truly believe that finding someone who genuinely understands and cares about how you feel without judgement is a great place to start. I can provide this space for you.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
