About me

Hello, my name is Anthony.

I work with clients aged 18 and over. I offer support in several areas of mental health, including COVID19 related difficulties, I work with clients experiencing anxiety and/or depression, trauma,  loss and bereavement. and stress related issues. I also work with couples. I am happy to accept Employee Assistance referrals.

I am experienced in working with adults who are suffering painful emotions and/or behaviour resulting from childhood abuse and/or trauma of some form, whether emotional, psychological, physical or sexual. Symptoms may often include anxiety, depression, suicidal thoughts, and substance misuse. Attachment and relationship issues can often develop from childhood trauma that in turn can impact on past and present relationships. For people born in the 50's, 60's and 70's (although not restricted to just this period of time), strict discipline of children in some form, was not unusual - the safeguarding laws of today didn't exist then. Past experiences and trauma can unexpectedly catch up with us in later life.

I am an experienced counsellor, formerly co-founder and senior practitioner with The Almond Tree. Talking about emotional stress and, perhaps, past trauma, can be very painful, and I will keeo you safe throughout each step of the counselling process. Sessions will be conducted at your own pace and you will not be pressured into discussing areas you are not ready for. The whole therapeutic process will be focused around you and your needs, at your pace and I will give you as much time and space as you need. Whilst I am an integrative counsellor, primarily using a person centred approach, I do dip in and out of other approaches as and when to meet your needs.

I look forward to discussing your needs prior to counselling itself, to help you decide if I am the right counsellor for you.

I also offer Christian counselling on request, integrating your faith into the same professional counselling provision. Contact me for more information about this service.

BACP

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
