About me

Hello, my name is Anthony.

I am an experienced counsellor, formerly co-founder and senior practitioner with The Almond Tree. I use a variety of counselling techniques but I mostly use a person centred approach.  Talking about current emotional stress and, perhaps, past trauma can be very painful, and I will keeo you safe throughout each step of the counselling process. Sessions will be conducted at your own pace and you will not be pressured into discussing areas you are not ready for. The whole therapeutic process will be focused around you and your needs, at your pace and I will give you as much time and space as you need.

I work with clients aged 18 + particularly focusing on Adult Childhood Experiences (ACE's) where adults are experiencing painful emotions and/or behaviour from childhood abuse and/or trauma of some form, whether emotional, psychological, physical or sexual. Symptoms may often include anxiety, depression, suicidal thoughts, and substance misuse. Attachment and relationship issues can often develop from childhood trauma. I also specialise in loss and bereavement. and stress related issues.

I am happy to discuss your needs beforehand to help you decide if I am the right counsellor for you.

I am also a Christian counsellor, integrating your faith into the same professional counselling provision. Contact me for more information about this service.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have been a counselling practitioner since 2010 with placements at Bridge Christian Counselling and Place2Be. I hold a level 4 diploma in therapeutic counselling with over 1000 hours face to face counselling experience in a variety of emotional and mental health areas. ACC

Association for Christian Counsellors

The Association of Christian Counsellors is a professional body representing and setting standards for Christian counselling and care in the UK.

The organisation is made up of various different membership categories, including Counsellor and Accredited, and requires all members working as counsellors to undertake Continuous Professional Development on a regular basis.

BACP

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
