About me

WORKING ONLINE ONLY - Limited availability please email first

Questions you may be asking: Will my relationships always be like this? How can we/I overcome the past & familiar patterns? Why did they have an affair? When will we be intimate again? Are we still in love? Should we separate? Am I a bad person? Why do I feel sad? What’s this anxiety about? Is this depression? How do I/we stop fighting?

My passion is to support and walk alongside my clients experience of uncertainty & change - from couples & individuals who feel it's make or break to families in conflict. As a specialist relationship counsellor, I can help you navigate the challenges and fears you face together or alone. I've been featured on BBC Radio 4 Woman's Hour  - please see link: https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p06hfxg9

I've adapted my practice from largely in person to online counselling, via video/teletherapy to help stem the spread of Coronavirus.

Being a relationship specialist, I use my insight and expertise to work with you on your issues, helping you “stop being stuck” and moving you forward. I help you to dig deeper and look beyond your behaviour and emotions, from shouting & anger to panic attacks & despair. Together we find new ways of being with tools to help you manage better and navigate life’s twists and turns.

In my work, I see people struggling with how they communicate - often this can be symptomatic of something else, from infidelity, depression to intimacy or family issues. Often the same patterns keep repeating. I can help you break this cycle.

I've worked with Relate, the relationship charity, where I saw families, couples & individuals stuck in patterns of distress and anxiety because they didn't understand how to create change. It's frustrating and at this point a relationship counsellor like myself can help you take that step.

It warms my heart that I am helping people be in happier relationships, with themselves and those they cherish, particularly in these sad & difficult times.

As I used to live and practice as a counsellor in London, East Dulwich, SE22 for years and recently moved to Sheffield where I grew up & love, I understand many different ways of being and living. Whether in Sheffield or London, taking steps to reach for help is courageous. I invite couples, families and individuals of all backgrounds to get in touch.

Training, qualifications & experience

Being trained as an integrative counsellor, I combine many psychological theories, from psychodynamic – the inner world - to systemic practice – the wider contexts of your life.

I believe that no one glove fits all – which is why being trained in different theoretical modalities gives me the flexibility to adapt according to client needs. Not only do I combine, narrative therapy techniques with attachment based theory, I also use mindfulness practice to complement the healing process.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
