Annette Jones PGDip Couples Couns, Relate Certified, BACP registered
I am a counsellor with 17 years experience working in private practices based both in Horsham West Sussex and previously in London EC1. The Horsham clinic is comfortable, private and easily accessible by public transport and nearby parking.
I offer short and long term counselling to both couples and individuals. I am a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy and have full professional insurances. I am also able to offer concessional (reduced rate) work following an initial assessment by me with a Psychotherapist in Training who is on placement with me at the practice. She is in her 4th and final year of training.
I have a broad experience of working with couples and individuals struggling with relationship issues. Issues like passion, intimacy, arguments, money, infidelity, bereavement, addictions, substance misuse, depression and many other relationship issues to include domestic violence.
I originally qualified as a psychodynamic counsellor with Relate in 2003. I went onto study the more in-depth dynamics of the couple relationship at the Tavistock Clinic in 2005, looking at this through what is termed a psychoanalytic perspective. I started additional training in Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy in 2013 and have completed my third year of this four year programme.
I tend to be somewhat directive in style as a counsellor, using my intuition and thinking with a level of immediacy in the work. I like to share my knowledge of theory in an effort to remove as many unknowns as possible. I work with many individuals who are struggling to feel satisfied in their work and life in general terms. I work with a range of issues with individuals and couples covering anxiety, loss, depression, anger, escalating discord in a relationship and addiction to name but a few. I also deliver training to qualified practitioners in the field who work with couples and/or individuals focusing on relationship issues.
I specialise in working with couples who want to improve the quality of their relationship and also help couples with controlled separations. I have listened to the suffering of couples who have experienced infidelity and have seen how devastating this can be to both parties alongside the consequences this has for their children. Many couples are so confused by their mixed feelings towards each other and I enjoy working with this discord in order to find a way through to having a more meaningful and loving relationship.

What is fundamentally important to me is my relationship with you the client and managing your expectation. I agree an exploratory contract at the outset and continue to update this as our work progresses. We write down your goals and outcomes and review this at pre-agreed intervals.
Having worked for many years in both private practice and within organizations offering specialist counselling services, I have had experience of working with people who have used counselling to help them with a wide range of problems. I will not list these because they would only be indicative of the types of issues rather than exhaustive, suffice to stay in my seventeen years there are not many scenarios or situations especially with couples that I haven't worked with.
As at 2016, I am extending my practice and have started to work alongside a Psychotherapist in training who has completed her 4 years training and is completing her final case study as part of qualifying. My placement may be able to offer concessional work to my client base. Affordability is an issue for many of my clients and this provision extends our reach in both Horsham and Crawley. Further details can be supplied upon enquiry.
