About me

I am a qualified down to earth psychotherapist who is dedicated to providing an inclusive service. I have completed several years of in depth study programmes at both college & university, covering the necessary professional levels of study required to offer quality psycho therapeutic services to the public, as a contemporary mental health practitioner.

I have undertaken numerous professional development courses and seminars (college and university) including: Anxiety, Trauma, Anger, Working with Children& Young People, Identity, Understanding Autism, Supporting families of special needs children, Parent support, Group Facilitation, Ageing, loss, self-harm, low self-esteem and culture.

As an Integrative therapist, I integrate the following modalities.

  • Psycho-dynamic/Psychoanalysis
  • Humanistic/Person-centred
  • Phenomenological Approach
  • Mindfulness Approach
  • Therapeutic Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

My service offers a professional, contemporary approach to mental well being.

As an inclusive service I invite all areas of the community, to experience the benefits of  contemporary therapy with a down to earth Psycho-therapeutic practitioner.

"The gym enhances the body and therapy enhances the mind".

Training, qualifications & experience

I achieved academic degree letters after my name, however, I choose not to enter, because I firmly believe once a therapist achieves the minimum required professional Diploma qualification to practice, in the UK, we are all of equal value as counsellors/psychotherapists/clinical practitioners.  Gaining registered membership (MBACP) with one of the leading professional counselling and psychotherapy bodies (accredited register) represents competence, qualifications and skills to work effectively with the public.

At the start of my journey to become a counsellor I thought academic knowledge, (early psychology studies) was synonymous to a quality therapist, however, I was advised by a senior clinical practitioner, early on in my counselling training/studies, that our ability to build a therapeutic alliance with each client, is indeed key to a positive therapeutic outcome.  From the start I was considered a 'quality therapist', before gaining higher degree qualifications, therefore, I do not promote myself through academic letters, be it FD, BSc, MSc but through evidence of my work with clients from the trainee stage to present day.  I believe in the highest standard of therapeutic work at the lowest possible price.

Below I have entered a combination of relevant qualifications/training certification and experience..in the area of counselling and psychotherapy.

  • Assessment in counselling
  • Person centred Therapy
  • Advanced Counselling Studies
  • Counselling Skills and Theory

  • Certification working with Loss

I specialise in short and long term counselling & psychotherapy, however, I currently offer short term counselling sessions 4-8 sessions, where 4 week extensions can be arranged and you can return to the service at any time.  If we find that long term counselling is best for you, I will support you in finding a suitable long term therapist.  My practice is my passion and doing what is best for the client is paramount in my profession, therefore, I work with transparency/honesty - if I am not the right therapist for you right now, we will find a therapist who offers longer term work meanwhile sessions will be productive in preparation for longer term work.  Please ask for details.

Further information

I believe we are unique individuals, therefore, the aim of my practice is to reflect individuality.  Evidence shows a therapist who is being 'real', encourages those who enter his/her practice, to be 'themselves' and this supports the therapy.

Initial session/assessment are carried out with an awareness that you might feel anxious, therefore, I carry out assessments with professionalism and warmth.  Clients report feeling at ease despite entering highly anxious.  I appreciate the thought of an assessment is often daunting.  Please do not hesitate to share any concerns you might have.

At all times I adhere to BACP ethical principles which includes client confidentiality.
