Anne Whitworth Nee Stuart MBACP, PG Dip Integrative Psychotherapy
I am a fully qualified and certified counsellor and integrative psychotherapist working in Rossendale. As an integrative psychotherapist I believe that it is essential that I provide a bespoke service for each client in order to meet their individual needs. Each client has a unique experience of life meaning they require different things from their therapy. In order to meet these individual requirements, I advance my knowledge through regular training events and further studies.
Having experienced therapy myself I know how daunting it can be as a new client to begin the process and to look at things that you may have been trying to cope with, or manage, alone. My experience, on both sides of the table, can help you to begin your journey secure in the knowledge that you will begin to feel better.
What to expect on your first session:
Our initial meeting will last about an hour, and be about getting to know each other and discussing the areas of your life that you would like to reflect on and receive help with, and ways in which I may be able to help. We will also discuss confidentiality and the frequency of sessions; weekly, hour long sessions are advisable however it is sometimes difficult to come each week due to work or financial restraints, so this can be negotiated during the first session.
In these sessions we will explore the areas of your life that you feel you need help with. This can be done in a variety of ways, either verbally or creatively (such as drawing or mapping your life out on paper), and will be done within your comfort. The exploration of the roots of your issues can help to get you back to feeling yourself again, and will often involve looking at childhood experiences and any impact that they might have had on you.
