About me

Hello and welcome,

I’m a holistic therapist who relates to my clients as multi-faceted human beings, not merely someone with an “issue”.  I use all of my training in person centred counselling, life coaching, hypnotherapy and energy balancing Reiki to help my clients reach their full potential in whatever way that I can.  I truly believe in the power of the mind and as such teach my clients how to control their mind and not let their mind control them.  Everything in your life is as a result of a learnt behaviour and we can change those behaviours and change your life.  Fundamentally I focus on inner child work, which is another term for addressing the subconscious mind where all our values, beliefs, fears and emotional snapshots are held.  When a thought triggers an emotion then our inner child REACTS.  When a thought triggers an emotion, that we then pass back to our mind then the adult (conscious mind) TAKES ACTION. Everything that you feel you are suffering from at this moment in time is as a result of your inner child - I can guarantee it.

Consider this - metaphorically speaking do you have a hole in your bucket? Picture the bucket as your heart with a hole in it and no matter how much you try to fill it with external, material things they just aren't able to fill the hole sufficiently in order for you to feel full or filled (fulfilled) for an indefinite length of time. Instead whatever you need pours out of the hole and you have to start all over again - is it any wonder that you're exhausted mentally, emotionally and physically.

Have you tried everything and run out of ideas on how to fill it or do you have a block that is telling you that you are not worth the effort. Well I'm here to tell you that you are worth it and to teach you how to make sure that all those holes in your bucket are filled with love for yourself until it is overflowing - then sit back and watch how your life changes!  Please visit my personal website www.tri-therapies.com.

Let me help you learn how to parent your inner child in the way that you probably never experienced in reality and watch how you not only grow emotionally, but make massive changes in your life as a result.

Best wishes,

Person-Centred Counselling

I'm someone who feels passionately about the benefits of counselling. I understand that everyone needs someone to talk to at times. Those times when we don't want to burden family or friends with our problems, when talking to them just doesn't feel appropriate, when it feels like you have no one at all to turn to, or simply don't know where or how to start. That's where I come in! I'm a neutral person who will listen to you and not talk at you, who will be empathic not sympathetic, who will try to understand not condemn and who will endevour to help you try to help yourself.

I work with children, young people, adults and couples.  I've worked with clients in a women's refuge and everything that entails - emotional, physical and mental abuse, together with the issues that generally go along with those things used as coping mechanisms; namely alcohol and drug addiction.

Other issues I encountered whilst working at a counselling centre in Preston were marital / sexual problems, infertility, low self esteem, work issues, family relationships, depression / suicidal thoughts, abortion, sadly the list is endless.

Before going into practice for myself I spent time volunteering at a primary school in a deprived area of Burnley working with 8 year olds for Place2Be. Place2Be places counsellors into primary and comprehensive schools in deprived areas. Children who use Place2Be's services are more likely to be from disadvantaged backgrounds, and to have special educational needs and pre-existing emotional and behavioural difficulties. That's where I was trained in Play Therapy.

Latterly, I've gained experience working for Lancashire Care Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust at one of their secure mental health units covering 2 wards.

Parts Therapy

Imagine your"self" as being the core of you. Your"self" is your inner being, your true essence. That core part of you lives in the living room of your home, whilst down in the basement are all other aspects of your life experiences - anger, resentment, fear, hopelessness, joy, love, hate etc, etc. One day while you're in the living room there's a knock on the front door and when you answer it something happens to invite a part of you up from the basement. In other words someone or something has "pushed your buttons" and you are reacting to it. So your"self" and this other aspect of you are now in a dialogue in the living room. When there's only two of you, then the chances are that your"self" will eventually settle down the other part that is now playing out a scenario. What happens, however, if more than the one part decides to put in an appearance in the living room and your"self" is overwhelmed? Parts Therapy involves actually being able to visualise the other aspect that your"self" is dealing with. When we do this then we are better able to stay in control of a situation. We learn to be aware of all aspects of our"selves", so that they don't creep up on us out of no where. Please refer to my dedicated page for more information.

Life Coaching

Whilst Counselling is primarily about looking back at issues in your life, Life Coaching focuses on how to move forward. It could be that something happened in your past that is holding you back or you're feeling unfulfilled in some aspect of your life, but don't know how to make the necessary changes. As a qualified Life Coach and Professional Counsellor I can combine my skills to help you overcome whatever may be hindering your progress. The two complement each other perfectly.

Contrary to popular belief, hypnosis is not a state of deep sleep. It does involve the induction of a trance-like condition, but when in it, the patient is actually in an enhanced state of awareness, concentrating entirely on the hypnotist's voice. In this state, the conscious mind is suppressed and the subconscious mind is revealed.

Phobias of all kinds lend themselves well to hypnotherapy, and anyone suffering from panic attacks or obsessional compulsive behaviour, and stress-related problems like insomnia, may benefit.

Intuitive / Reiki Healing

There are moments in all of our lives when we feel the need to switch off in order to rejuvenate. Particularly if attending for Counselling or Life Coaching. When going through emotional times, we need to replenish ourselves in some way. Healing provides a calming and serene environment, which allows you to stop the "chatter" in your mind and totally relax.

All aspects of my work are governed by ethical guidelines and confidentiality.

I work either face-to-face or via Skype, Zoom, doxy.me, Zippy, WhatsApp or Facetime whichever you prefer.  So now you have no excuses!

Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Other areas of counselling I deal with

I also offer play therapy working with children who have experienced / live with the effects of some of the above issues within their families.

It's difficult talking about money when it relates to a person's well being, but I feel that my prices compare well with others in my profession, who do not offer the "complete package" as I do. This is one of the most important investments that you will ever make - an investment in your self and in your life. I believe that you're worth it - I hope you do too.  I put all of myself into helping my clients to help themselves and for me that is priceless.

All sessions will last 90 minutes, except for Play Therapy for children which will last 60 minutes.  The relationship between therapist and client is like any other and must be based on honesty and trust.  If either of us feel that we are incompatible for any reason then the client is free to leave within the first 30 minutes without feeling uncomfortable and likewise if I feel that I am unable to work with a client then I will say so.

All 90 minute client sessions incur a fee of £95 be it for counselling, life coaching, hypnotherapy, a combination of all three and whatever technique I use eg Parts Therapy, Colour Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).

Play Therapy for children will be £75 per 60 minute session.

Couple counselling will be £110 per 90 minute session.

A bespoke recording, without attending a session, will be £45. A copy of a generic recording from my personal library appertaining to a particular issue  can be purchased in MP3 format for £25.

Letters requested by clients for employers, tutors, GPs etc, if agreed relevant by the Therapist, will incur an additional charge of £25.

I do offer home visits, but this will incur an additional charge to cover petrol and travelling time.
