Anne Robinson MBACP - Person centred therapy

Talking about our feelings and facing difficult situations in our lives can feel extremely challenging. It may feel easier to bottle things up and keep the lid firmly pressed down. However, this may not be sustainable in the long run. You may need a place, just for you, where you can check in with yourself and feel connected to someone who fully understands you.
Whatever your starting point, it is important that you find a counsellor who you feel comfortable with. You need someone you can trust to support you along the way.
I will start by telling you about myself and the type of counselling I provide. Feel free to email or call with any questions before booking a session.
I am a Person-Centred Counsellor and am a Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP). I adhere to the BACP's Ethical Framework and am fully insured. My practice is based at my home in West Point, Levenshulme. My own experience as a client inspired me to train as a Counsellor. Receiving counselling was life changing for me and I want to help others in the same way.
As well as private work, I spent 4 years within the voluntary sector, counselling firstly at Stockport Women's Centre and then at Trafford Carers Centre. In addition to counselling I work in the field of Stakeholder Engagement and Communications. I started out as a consultant prior to counselling and I continue to enjoy the variety of work from both counselling and consultancy. My most important role is being a mum.
I am committed to providing a confidential, safe, non-judgmental environment for you to explore your thoughts, feelings, experiences and perceptions, and to work through any situations that are affecting your life.
During our sessions I will endeavour to see the world as you see it and understand the feelings you are experiencing. It is a healing experience when you talk to someone who deeply understands what you are going through. You will have the freedom, time and space to work through your issues and seek some clarity. We will work together to develop the tools and strategies you need to deal with issues in your life. I hope our sessions will empower you to make decisions that are right for you.
I have worked with clients experiencing a variety of issues including: anxiety, depression, stress, bereavement, relationship issues (affairs, betrayals, divorce, family issues), eating disorders, domestic abuse, substance abuse / addictions and coping with the challenges of everyday life. Many of these issues are interlinked and it may feel overwhelming if you are experiencing a multitude of emotions and difficult events in life. Talking about these issues in our counselling sessions will help the situations in your life feel more manageable.
Sometimes it may feel difficult to express ourselves using words. I will provide art materials in our sessions should you want to use other materials to express yourself.
Our sessions are an hour long. In our first session we can discuss how regularly you would like to meet. I am happy to provide counselling sessions over a short or long term basis.
Please feel free to call with any further questions.
