Anne Newton Taylor, Advanced Dip Psychotherapeutic Counsellor, UKCP Accredited.
Based in Pocklington, I am a Psychotherapeutic Relational Centred Counsellor working with Adults, Young Adolescents and children, Parents/Families, Couples and Groups. Whilst appropriately qualified to counsel a wide range of issues, I am particularly active in the spheres of:
Abuse - whether physical, sexual or emotional
Depression and Anxiety
Social, Family and Relationship Issues
Low Self Esteem
Counselling is not always easy and there are no quick fixes! I believe that a therapist should not only listen but also understand, supporting clients through difficult periods.
My approach is Relational Centred. At the core of this approach is the importance of a trusting relationship between therapist and client. This trust results from a genuineness, empathy and acceptance shown by the therapist. It is from this therapeutic relationship that the client will gain the confidence necessary to explore their difficulties whether past or present. Sessions do not focus upon instruction, together we will explore associated thoughts and feelings in order to develop greater awareness and understanding of yourself with the aim of improving the quality of your life. I appreciate that each client is individual and counselling reflects the specific needs of each person.
Providing a safe and confidential setting for you to talk about the difficulties you may be experiencing, I offer both short and long term counselling/ psychotherapy depending on the wishes and needs of the client. I also offer other forms of therapy to aid in expression and self exploratory through art, play etc.
