Michele Ablett DipHE; BA Hons Counselling; MACC (Accred) PSA Registered
Hello and welcome! Thank you for being interested in my service.
I am a highly qualified, friendly and empathetic counsellor, based in a beautiful location on the edge Exeter, convenient for A30/ M5.
Can Counselling Help?
Often we can feel stuck or unsure of what to do or we're in 'a big black cloud'. We may need to temporarily turn to confidential counselling to help manage feelings, thoughts or problems to cope with life. My role in counselling is to facilitate this process by gently working with you at your pace and with your personality, to explore your problems and help you become aware of any deeper unmet needs. Your chosen goals are useful to steer the sessions and I will discuss and help you achieve them by using an advanced variety of counselling techniques that are tailored to you as an individual. My ultimate goal is that you will feel more equipped to strengthen your sense of self, to feel more empowered to move forward, with more understanding and confidence.
How long does Counselling take?
Confidential counselling (like a work-out schedule), is an ongoing process. The recommended number of sessions very much depends on the depth of difficulties and personal preference.
What to Expect from the First Session
This consultation will be a relaxed opportunity to meet and for you to begin to explain your situation. Any queries can be discussed.

Any questions? I would be very happy to discuss with you any further information by a telephone call or by email, before meeting.
I am an 'Integrative Therapist'; this means that I draw upon many different scientifically proven and researched methods- informed by neuroscience.
The following Interventions are also available but are optional (everything we do will always 'OK ed' by you) depending on your preferences:-
- Relaxation and breathing techniques
- Coping strategies
- Demonstrating the link between neuroscience (the way the brain works) and your experiences, in order to understand yourself.
Most importantly YOU will be at the centre of your counselling. In listening to your needs, I will help you to explore your situation, relationships, yourself, feelings, thoughts, beliefs and deep longings.
I believe people need to be informed of the counselling methods, and will continually assess your progress and give explanations and diagrams to help you understand what is happening, so that you can fully engage with the process and also help yourself between sessions.
Counselling is very much like joining a gym and is a process that will reap benefits, but like physical exercise it takes some adjustment and dedication. We will be working towards 'an end'; a resolution of your difficulties.
I am a member of the BACP and an accredited member of the ACC and abide by both ethical frameworks for good practice.
