About me

I am BACP Registered and Accredited with 16 years experience working as a therapist in Yorkshire. I am offering appointments via video or telephone at this time .

I offer a safe space to explore difficult thoughts and feelings  that you may be experiencing in your daily life. These challenges could be presenting in how you feel about yourself,  work or in relationships with others.

I am trained in Dynamic Interpersonal therapy which means I have additional expertise to help look at patterns and themes in relational experiences.

I am currently working within  the NHS  IAPT (Improved Access to Psychological Therapies) Counselling for Depression Service.

I am a BUPA registered therapist.

I have a specialised interest in Anxiety and Depression.

Presenting difficulties I have worked with include the following :-

  • Depression         Relationship Issues   Redundancy         Suicidal Thinking
  • Anxiety               Family Difficulties       Retirement             Abuse
  • Stress                 Pregnancy                   Career Issues         Health Issues
  • Bereavement     Adoption                       Fertility                 Loss

We would  initially meet for an introductory appointment to think about options and possible ways forward.

Ongoing weekly counselling appointments are for 50 minutes at the same time each week.

I work both from home and a business premise in Tadcaster.

There is a good road network to Tadcaster which can be accessed via the M1, A1 and A64.

Please feel free to contact me to discuss any questions you have about how Counselling may be able to help you.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have a Diploma of Higher Education in Therapeutic Counselling having trained on an Accredited Course with Leeds Metropolitan University.

I qualified in 2005, having at that point also undertaken a supervised placement for two years at Leeds Counselling.

I also had personal therapy during this time which gave enhanced awareness of my own patterns of relating as well as insight into the experience of being a client.

I gained Accreditation with The British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists in 2012 which also granted me status of UKRCP Registered Independent Counsellor / Psychotherapist.

My work is underpinned by psychodynamic and person centred theories. I also have a strong interest in attachment theory .

I undertook training in Dynamic Interpersonal Therapy via the Anna Freud Centre in London in 2014. This work was Accredited by the British Analytic Counsel in 2018.

I attend regular continued professional development

I have professional supervision for my work and am bound by the BACP ethical framework for my code of practice.

I hold professional indemnity insurance as well as enhanced DBS clearance.

Member organisations

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

You can contact the counsellor to discuss the options available.
